Preordering and dates.

Okay guys, I've finally got enough saved to go ahead and make a preorder. I have two concerns:

1. How much should I expect to put down for a preorder, and will that money towards the cars down payment later?

2. If I preorder around mid April, what should I expect my delivery date to be?

Thanks!

I think that it's too late to actually classify as a preorder, but most of the preorder deposits that I've seen have been $500-$1000, and yes, that is used towards your downpayment (although my dealer never cashed the check, they just wanted to see that I was truly interested). Make sure your deposit is refundable as well and get MSRP in writing at the outset.

If you wait until the middle of April to place the order, I would expect your car to arrive towards the end of the year (October is probably the earliest and November or December is a little more likely). Good luck!!!!!

Although I live about 3 minutes from John Hine, I chose to go up to Cush Mazda in Escondido. I don't want to go talking trash about any specific dealers, but my dad had a bad experience with his first gen at John Hine (I was probably 9 at the time) but he made such a big deal about it that it's stuck with me to this day.... I have no idea what the problem was or what their reputation is like now, but something compelled me not to do business with them. Funny how old family things like that die hard....

my dealer told me the same thing (and several other people too) and then like a couple weeks later cashed them all. their reasoning for doing it without telling anyone they were going too? they were worried that they were going to lose the checks out of the files. ever hear of staples?

almost all of the cars coming in june are pre orders. some dealers (like elaras) may have used some of the spots in their pre order allotment to buy cars for stock. so yes there may be some cars to be had but they will be in the color and option package of the dealers choosing.
