Premix

I know there are a lot of threads on premixing but what premix do you guys use? I haven't premixed before and was looking into it. Is it correct to use 4-8oz of 2 stroke oil with every fill up?

Also is this oil good for premix?

Royal Purple/1 gal. 2 cycle TCW III motor oil (04311) | Small Engine Oil - 2 Stroke | AutoZone.com

Thanks

TCW3 oil is better than nothing, but it isn't best. You want JASO FC or FD (same except FD has more detergents).

If your OMP is operational, you can do 8oz to a tank which is ~200:1 gas:oil ratio. If your OMP is not working, go with 16oz to get ~100:1.

Dumb question...

Do pre-mix this oil in a smaller container..say a 5 gallon fuel jug before dumping it into the cars gas tank?

Or do you dump the oil in the gas tank before filling up and rely on that event to mix the gas and oil?

Two dumb questions in a row, you are on a role. If you read the epic premix thread like you said, you would not be asking these questions.

Sorry I thought you were the OP. Still a dumb question though. Just keep this in mind, if you can think of an RX-8 related question then there is already an answer for it here so just just search. The new owners thread is a good place to start...........

While I don't necessarily agree with the way that 9k decided to tell someone to search before asking, I do agree that they should search before asking...Searching this site is fairly easy and 9k is right in saying that threads like this just clutter it up. Now, the last two posts are another issue entirely when two members get in to a pissing match and resort to name calling.

The proper response would be:

I use Lucas semi-syn from my local O'Reilly's parts store. It's JASO certified.

I understand. Agree to disagree on approach. Been involved in quite a few forums (mainly technology related) and I think that you potentially lose some future good users because a seasoned poster destroyed them on a question they had...Take RIWWP...He routinely posts links to "dumb" questions.

Again, though...to each his own and agree to disagree
I'm fairly new to this forum so maybe I should keep my two cents to myself.

Pearl has the patience of a saint, hence why he is a Super Mod. But I have seen him pushed to his limits. The rest of the mods just jumped ship, Some people just need to be scolded. I have been a mod on another car forum since 1997-98

All of those "other" threads cover the exact same thing you are asking? Why regurgitate it all over again?
