is it possible VDI/SSV

Looking at spraying seafoam into my air intake to give it a good clean. Was wondering if it's possibly to manually open and shut both VDI/SSV Valves while spraying and running engine at fast idle.
I've used search by found nothing other than operating SSV when removed from the engine
Any help would be great pictures would be a bonus.

Yes for both.
The actuators are right behind the alternator by the lim.
But I don't see the point for the VDI

First pic is the LIM
The black plastic tube with the large orange Oring, is part of the UIM.
The actuators are located under that part.
The vdi actuator is in the middle (under the large Orange Oring)
The ssv actuator can just been seen under that bend that comes around and down, just behind alternator.

At the top middle of the LIM is the vdi you can see it here along with just a glimpse of the actuator that moves it under that large Oring.

Way down at the bottom is the ssv

Hope my crappy pics helped a bit

This might sound like a dumb question but the actuators to operate them manually can they be turned by hand to open close the valves.

Yup

Just reach in there and toggle them back and forth.
The SSV is normally closed so opening it at idle is likely to produce some interesting result but will not harm anything.

The VDI should be clean...never seen one of them dirty

If the SSV is working this might clean it up a bit...but if it is stuck it needs to be removed and cleaned.

Great last picture.. I take it what I'm looking for is the rod that connects actuator to the valve

You're welcome.

I'm on a vacuum leak hunt

I'm running 12 psi of boost and things have started to go rich and my idle is crap.
So I'm trying to locate a boost/vacuum leak.

Thanks

I read "The SSV normandy". Guess I've been playing too much Mass Effect...

I've been hanging out in London for about a month now. Got all the way to the end and walked away... need to go back and finish it up soon.

I hooked up with my onboard TV reporter along the way.... saw some teasers for playing as a female and hooking up with Ashley... o m g it's not every day I find myself wishing I was a woman from watching CGI.

I'm sure Commander Shepard could help you with your VDI/SSV.

There is a seafoam spray that comes with a tube and a guide such that it aims the spray on the throttle plate.

I used one once, but I bought it only because it was on sale. So I didn't notice any improvement, but it didn't seem to cause any problems either.

Maybe there was not much for the seafoam to clean so you noticed no difference.
I'm only doing it as preventive measure and not to solve a problem. More spring cleaning.
