Is it possible to buy an rx8 "shell" from mazda?
I'm basically looking for a chassis that I can build upon for building another rx8 (for track).
I would still require a VIN in order to register/title the car.
Everything I've found online is either too damaged (major damage) or not damaged enough (minor cosmetic damage).
Where as depending on the price of such a chassis (if available), I could swap donor parts (excluding interior) to the chassis.
Anyone know of such an option to buy an rx8 before its equipped with parts/paint?

You can buy a 'body in white' from Mazda Competition.
Given the price it might make more sense to just get a real car and part/dismantle it, but it depends on how much your time is worth.
Pretty sure they do not come with a VIN and are not registrable as a street vehicle.

If it is strictly for track use why worry about registration? Don't want to tow the car in? If you can live without a VIN you might be able to order a Carbon Fiber body from one of the race teams.
