PLX Kiwi 3 (OBD scan tool)

Getting close to buying one. I feel like I want to keep better track of coolant temps and a few other parameters.

Any feedback?

PLX stuff sucks, I have the DM6 with boost and AFR modules and it constantly has to be reset to work right.

Hoss-05 had the OBD display and couple of other gauges and has had nothing but problems as well. Tech support and customer service is good but even after replacing items I still have problems often. I will be switching over to Innovate stuff soon.

Concur - I have the KIWI 2, it works, but at times takes a while to sync. When it does work, it does a nice job - but for $60, it's just ok.

Hmm. Looks like Innovate's product (the OT-2, right?) is WiFi-only. I'd much prefer Bluetooth. I'll be using it with an Android 5.0.x phone, for what that's worth.

Any suggestions?

I use an OBDLink LX and I'm satisfied with it.

Wow. Tempting.

Why does it cost $50 when everything else costs $100+?

I have a Kiwi 2 WiFi (that I just haven't gotten around to selling) and a pair of Kiwi 3 (received together as a kickstarter backer, I plan to sell the second one).

All seem to work well. My only gripe about the Kiwi 3 is that it drains my phone battery even when the phone is plugged into a charger. It's slow, maybe 2%/hour when plugged in but it still makes me wonder. I tried running in airplane mode with my Grom BTD disconnected but none of my chargers seem to be able to keep up.

Edit:
Okay, the battery drain issue ended up being a bad cable.

I too use and OBD Link product but the MX. It works really well with Torque Pro. For for day to day use, I use the Goodbox along with my standard gauges.

Does the MX obstruct your legroom? I sit pretty close to the dash and I'd like something I can have plugged in while I drive.

The MX is pretty stubby. I use it on the track all the time, and it doesn't get in my way. I do have one complaint about it, which is that you sometimes have to unplug it, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in to get it to work. This happens about 3 times per week.

I've had great experiences with PLX. I bought a kiwi 2 back when it was fairly new and have been too lazy to install it all this time. I'll gladly post feedback on that, possibly even as early as tomorrow (it is significantly cheaper, you might prefer that over the 3).
