I am looking to buy a Mazda RX-8 and am getting conflicting info about the Shinka models (that's what I would like to purchase). I do know the 2005 only comes in black cherry/sand.

What color combos does the 2006 Shinka come in? I am looking at one in another state that says it is Galaxy Gray but the interior is black/gray cloth. I thought the Shinka's were always leather inside.

HELP - pls. let me know what the options were for the 2006 Shinka so I can make an informed purchase - THANK YOU!!!

For 2005 Shinka was a special edition (included a limited numbered plaque on the engine bay.
Only came in the Black Cherry Pearl Mica (deep purple) color with the tan leather interiors.
Shinka also had Piano black (instead of brushed aluminum look) interior trim
the wheels, headlight/taillights are adifferent shade of metal (satin finish vs the regular car's chrome I think)
Stiffer shocks and the crossmember in the front is filled with urethane foam for increased chassis rigidity

for 2006 Shinka became a trim level (a step above grand touring)
It was available in most of that year's production colors Whitewater Pearl, Velocity Red, black, a dark blue that I don't remember the name, a gray, & a blue/green color

It had 2 different interior types, (the Light Tan that the 2005 had was now available on the White, Black & blue, and a dark Brown leather was available on thr Red & Gray)

The Limited edition placard didn't come anymore, but all Shinkas sported the piano black accents in the interior trim, the upgraded shocks & the Urethane filled crossmember
(in addition to all the Grand Touring options of the car)

Keep in mind, I'm doing this from memory, I might have missed some colors for 2006 or messed up the leather combinations (not 100% sure if the blue came with the light or dark leather)

Both 2005 & 2006 Shinkas could be optioned either with, or without the spoiler and appearance kit (although a lot of dealerships optioned them to the gills and you had to special order one if ou wanted it without the spoilers) the only 2005 example I saw in a dealership even sported the MS spoiler instead of the regular one

Bottom line: Cloth interior = NOT a Shinka (the interior will be trimmed in aluminum looking plastic instead of the piano black.
Hell, with a cloth interior it is either a Sport (no sunroof) or Touring (sunroof + foglamps)
All Grand Touring + Shinkas had leather interiors (GT had Black or Black/Red leather Shinka had Tan or Brown)

I have a 2006 Shinka, Whitewater pearl, 6 speed manual, w/ appearance package, spoiler, rotary accent package & sunroof wind deflector.

Mya; what color leather are your interiors? Is it the the light tan/Alcantara leather, or the dark brown leather? And can you confirm for me that both had red accent stitching on them?
