Hehe, Legal or arrest me gear. So tempting. I mean to say to you earlier, we have the same name. My name is Chris and my last initial is alos M, and it always messes with me when I see your signature.

How long do you recoment hitting the redline, for a few seconds?

When people ask me how fast the car is, I say that I can drive on the highway in second, and 3rd through 6th is directly proportional to how many years I'd spend in jail for using them the way I want to.

I only wind it up to red-line for the shift, and I don't leave it there after the beep. If I'm merging onto the highway and don't need to stop I'll downshift to 3rd and merge at around 6k (which can take 30+ seconds), but thats the closest thing I 'll do to holding it at the redline.

it has been suggested that you keep your RPMs high for a period of time. so it's not so much the redline that you should be worrying about, you want to keep your RPMs high to clear the carbon. i have a light that is about 1/8 mile from the onramp to the expressway.

i usually go from that light to the ramp in second doing around 45-50 and then once i hit the ramp i get it up to redline and shift and then hit third for a minute and over to 6th to cruise before i get arrested.

i think it was expo that had shown me the light about not just blipping the redline but instead keeping the RPMs high in one of his posts. if i'm saying something he didn't then i apologize to him.

Thanks for the info. Appreciate it.

Also CTRx8 what RPM are you hitting in second at 45-50. I can probably do that when merging on the highway in the mornings to work and then pop it into 3rd after merging.

I would have thought it more important to be under load than to just hold in gear for the sake of it - but who really knows anyway ....
My method is to take it to the track once a month - that must really clean her out . 5x20mins of wankel spanking and she purrs like a kitten afterward

it's quite possible that i misunderstood as well. but since i don't take her to the track i do what i can to clean it out and take suggestions that i feel seem to make sense and run with it. of course i'm a computer guy and won't pretend that i even took auto class so the only knowledge i have of cars was learning with my dad to maintain my '79 rx7 as a teenager and knowledge from searching around this forum.

Well started yesterday to push it up to redline when getting on the hiway and then shifting when it hits the red. But I had a question. Right around 6krpm a little engine light starts to flash on my dashboard, is that normal or is something wrong? Also What are your guys thoughts about those add ins for fuel, that like clean your engine, and fuel system. I used to do it once every 2 months on my old cars, is that recomended on the 8, if so what are your guys thoughts on which ones are good to use , and how often?

my thought is you got a CEL and it is misfiring in the upper rev range.....happens when either your coils, plugs, or wires are going

yikes. That doesnt sound good. I just got a reman engine could that be related? Should I stop redlining it till it is fixed. At what mileage is it good to get new sparkplugs?
