18, never realized how many other young RX-8 owners there are, I wasnt going to say how young I was but now that I know Im not the only one, whatever. I was always nervous about everyone thinking my RX-8 was bought with "daddys money", but with "daddys co-signature", 60hr workweeks, and a little bit from college savings, I paid for my RX-8 at 17, and now at 18, and 50K miles, I love my car more than ever.

26 here. Have loved the rotary since I was 10 years old when my dad had an FC. Still get crap from friends for not getting an FD, but I'm happy with the RX-8.

Let me add mine to the count. I am 58 hence my moniker, MidLife8. My first rotary was a 1979 spark yellow RX-7 before the idea of first gen came about. I consider each of them my "poor man's ferrari". Quick enough to get in trouble, yet costing far less than the exotics.

53 with Lightning Yellow 8

That's what my wife gets for not wanting to go looking at cars with me and finally saying "just go get whatever you want".

I've had mine since Dec. 04 and 72,000 miles later I still love it more than ever.

Regards,

Gary Eaves

50 this year. Bought 06 RX-8 last September. Got the same "mid-life crisis toy" story from some, but I've owned and built Mustangs for most of my life. My other car is a 1969 Boss 302 Mustang. For those in the know, it's a special version of a small block Ford engine, so buying a unique rotary engine modern sports car seemed a natural move for me.

James, I've been adding those who qualify from this thread to our list of members over 40, posted in the lounge. Don't worry, it's up to 76- and a lot of members of our generation don't visit the lounge often, so I'm sure there are many more! BTW, I'm almost 49 (2 more months) but feel much younger driving my 8.

It's this remarkable car that binds us all together as kindred spirits. A mindset that transcends age differences and accentuates commonalities instead of differences.

I'd rather hang with a 19-year-old with an 8, than another person my age driving a Buick!

HAHA You're not the only one getting crap from your friends. Mine complain to me everyday about the RX8 and why I never considered the FD. I got the RX8 mainly because my gf liked it alot. LOL. Well it is a lot more practical than the FD.

5 days away from 24, the sad thing is I bought the RX-8 because I wanted a bit of practicality and I'm single with no kids. I have been getting that Elise itch lately though
