One thing about my Rx-8

Hope I am not the only one... I love my car and I honestly very grateful to have it. That said. I cannot stand "sitting" in the seats. I have the leather version. Very nice but even if I tilt it back a bit. After 30 mins my lower back is killing me. Idk why or if its the seat or my back morphology. Something isnt right.

Does your lumbar support work?
I have a surgically repaired back, often uncomfortable sitting, but not in my 8.
I have the support fully out.

Good idea I will check it but I am pretty sure it is fully up.

I have had two back surgeries in my life and drive in my 2008 RX8 leather power seats with no problem for hours at a time on long drives. I use the multiple adjustments including lumbar support and have found my sweet spot easily. BTW I am 6ft 4 inches tall , 240 pounds. I have found these seats to be among the most comfortable seats in any sports car I have driven.

Love the seats in my 8. Just basic cloth seats. Feel great on my back when lots of others don't. Will eventually go in my truck once I get my recaros in my car.

If you go with recaros in your RX8 be sure you have the adustments you need to be comfortable. I know a Series 2 R3 owner who has the stock recaros and they have NO lumbar support and he wishes they did. Not comfortable for long periods of time. RX8 recaro seats are worth a ton of money, but what the heck if they are not comfortable.

I think the seats rock. I'm looking for a set of red/black ones for my vert rx7 if they will fit.

I definitely know what you mean.. No matter how I adjust my seat (power 10way) it never feels right. Part of it is that the seat back doesn't move when the bottom is raised or lowered.

Really KTEC ? I have no problem adjusting my seat back and finding a comfortable fit in the 10-way power leather seats, and I am a big guy.

same here actually, had extensive back surgery as a teenager (9 inch incision) my spine has metal parts, and the RX8 leather seating does not bother me but I am usually easily uncomfortable in most chairs.

most american market cars are made to fit larger people. Im not really big so most seats are too big for me. I remember an interview with a Japanese engineer for the RSX where he said that the seats for the USDM RSX were bigger.

I owned a FD RX7 among my seven rotaries and that was built really for smaller average Japanese market frames rather than the average bigger American market frames. Those seats were a much tighter fit for a big guy like me, and that hurt the FD's American sales. Mazda remembered this when they built the RX8 and made it roomier interior and bigger, wider standard seats, what a relief !

The seats are pretty good, but I prefer my FC's seats, which fit more snugly and have a softer butt pad. No complaints, really, but I notice the difference when I switch cars.

Interesting, I had an FC also , the Turbo II and they were nice seats but to me the RX8 leather seats hold me in a little better while still being very comfortable. Different strokes for different butts and backs. LOL

Funny thing... This is why I bought the RX-8.

Comfortable seats that support my bad lower back.

Joining this thread late - the topic didn't say what it was.

I had a real problem when I first got my 8. Cloth seats, and the built in (non-adjustable) lumbar bulge killed my back. I wound up putting foam on the seat and a wedge of foam at the base of the seat back. Kind of awkward and stupid looking. Eventually I found that I had a herniated disk. After microdiskectomy, the seat fit much better. I still need a small foam wedge at the base of the seat back to push my butt a little forward, but with that it's really comfortable. Even more comfortable after I shed an excess 40 pounds.

There are chairs I can sit in and chairs I can't. I need a foam pad to be comfortable in my wife's Infiniti. I've had to improvise wedges in various rental cars. Just part of the deal with a worn out back. There's a whole industry out there selling pads and wedges and stuff to make seats fit backs.
