Nordic Green

Guys,

What do you think of the nordic green? What is it like in person? Do you have pics? I am about to order my RX8 but have not been able to pick between Ti and green...

I've seen titanium in person, and to be honest, it sux. It's just too dark and hides many lines of the RX8. Red, blue, yellow, and silver are best colors. Green is probably better than titanium too. In RX8 brochure, the green is a bit dark too.

The green is very nice in person. Looks black, but in direct sun, it has green sparkles and undertones, with a bit of blue and purple. I should have taken my camera with me when I went to the dealer and drove a nordic green last week. I'll post pics when it does get here. I doubt you'd be dissappointed- I was very pleased with it.

The only problem with the green is going to be the same as the black- it's going to show every bit of dirt, and need to be cleaned on a regular basis.

I like the titanium too, but it's a little too drab for me- there was a titanium next to the green, and I just didn't like it as well. However, titanium with the red inserts would probably look very nice, if you like the titanium.

Nordic Green in Japan. I changed my order from Gray to Green after I saw it person. In this picture it looks almost blue. I thought it was purple when I fist saw it.

Thanks All!

So why is that green sounds to be such a great color and hardly anybody chooses it? I think I am gonna go green! Of course, then I will have to wash it regularly which I would do anyway. I wonder how easily can it be color matched in case it need be, though...

Elara, have you ever seen Mercedes' "Black Opal" color? They used to use it on SLK's and some C-class vehicles, but now I think they only use it on M-class. It sounds a lot like what you described.

DRAB?!?! Them's fightin' words! :D I'm getting Titanium with red/black upholstery, I think it will be very sharp looking and rather unique.

The reason some people didn't choose it (pre-order) was because people did not know what that color truely looked like. There were no pre-production models, no studio pictures, no live pictures, just paint chips. Even the paint chip didn't give a true representation of the color. People didn't want to take a chance.

Now that it is out, many people see that it is a great color. In fact, all the colors look great on the RX-8. Anyway, I think you'll see an increase of Nordic Green sales when "potential buyers" see the car in "person" and see "live" pictures.

I've gotten nothing but positive comments on the Titanium - everyone loves the color! I can't agree that it's too dark - that was my fear when I ordered it. It is really much lighter than the titanium on a Z3 for instance. Here in Texas, I decided against another dark car. I came to loathe my black RX-7 after the A/C quit working!

Heven't seen the green, so I can't help you there. The Titanium is beautiful, looking bluish at some angles and silver/grey at others. It is by no means dark. Good luck with your choice.

Is it the same Green as the one available for the RX-7 (FD)? Cuz there's a guy at my office is driving a Green RX-7, and it looks not too bad. It has a British car kinda feel. And it has tan interior, which matches so well.

I was thinking that Nordic Green and Black/Brown leather would be a very classy color combo, but I wanna go with a lighter colored car to hide the dirt factor.

I picked up my Nordic Green last Friday and I can tell you no picture yet has been able to do it justice. Like Elara said, the mica paint has flakes of blue and purple which makes it change color with the light. In sunlight can look crayola "blue green" or blue, then in other shades of light it may look black, a gun metal grey, or a dark beautiful green. I washed it for the first time last night after a week and 700 miles which isn't bad at all considering it wasn't that dirty. You won't be disappointed with Nordic Green!

No, I haven't seen it- sounds great though. I'll see if I can track down a picture to compare.

And I didn't mean to insult titanium owners ! My first choice was titanium with the black/red inserts, but after I saw the titanium at Detroit, and the paint chip of the NG, I decided to take my chances on the green. The titanium is still beautiful though!

Question Where are the greens?

Thanks guys for all the comments on the green color!

Just one question: who with a green 8 lives the closest to the Minneapolis area? I want to place my order and can't find a green 8 in Minneapolis to see if that is the color I really want.

If you live within a reasonable driving distance and are willing to show your green 8 I would definitely drive to your place and check your car out!

Anybody?

There's always red....

It's no coincidence it's the iconic color Mazda uses in all their ads, not to mention that sports cars (with the exception of british cars & early Corvettes) should be red. And the color will force you to keep from speeding... (or else you'll contribute healthy sums to local law enforcement coffers)

Question

I'm still in the struggling phase as to which color to choose: Nordic Green or something else. And that's because I have seen all colors but the green so far... Has any one of you guys seen one in person? Of course, there is the three of you who already drive green 8's according to the Color Poll thread. I really need help with this decision! Could you guys please post a few pics of the green... please!!!

Thanks a lot,
Erik

"Girl color" is fine... If you want a chick magnet. Of course if you want a dude magnet, one should get a "guy color". Everyone called my Miata a chick car... Attracted quite a few chicks. :D

Probably because 2 of the 8 or so girls on here ordered it. Obviously, that makes it a "girl color". Should make black or blue a "girl color" too, because at least one of each was also ordered by some of the female members here.

Ask yourself these questions?

Do I like dark colors? Do I like light colors? Do I like medium colors? Am I a fanatic about keeping my car clean? or do I seldom clean it? These questions will determine what car color you will get. The Nordic green is very elusive. Before the 8 hit the streets, there were pics. of either the yellow (so sick of it) or V. Red (almost as sick of it), but the green was very rare.

I got a chance to see the green in person last Saturday at my Mazda dealer. I strolled by the dealer at about 11:00 pm and saw what looked to be two black RX-8's. As I got closer, one was black indeed, but the other was Nordic Green. It looked black even under lights. As I walked around the car, you could tell it was this dark dark green and IT LOOKED GOOD!!!!. So the next day, I had to return to see how it looked under natural sunlight. The car still looked black at certain angles. Then it changed to dark green with the kinda goldish mica flakes, and then it looked bluish. It's the best color out of all the RX colors IMO. This particular one had the chaperal leather, and that made it look very classic British. I have been thinking about changing my order from tit. to green because I was thoroughly impressed. It's the most intriguing of the RX-8 colors, but the one that got the least attention. IT'S NOT EASY BEING GREEN

1.3 liter,

Thanks for the very thorough description! The fact that it has not been getting a lot of attention makes it even more appealing.

By far, the green has to be seen in person to actually know how it looks. It really does look great close up. Probably why there really aren't any photos of that color because it probably does represent closer to black. But in person, the metal flake really stands out and looks very sharp on the body.

I'm a guy, and I ordered Nordic Green.

I prefer to own green cars... I just really really like green.

I'm glad you liked the appearance of the Green + black/chaparral leather, since that's what I ordered... the black leather was kinda boring to me, not enough contrast, while the black cloth had a nice contrast, but I wanted leather for this car.

At this point, I'd consider blue also... my delivery date is late August/early September... it's hard to wait.

well, the other way to look at it is, the first few green RX-8s were owned by women. don't get me wrong, i love the green too, in fact i am going to choose between the black or the green myself, unless white makes a debut next year. i didn't mean to cause a stir about green being girlie or anything. i guess i was 1) just simply stating a feeling that more green cars were owned by women than by men, and 2) concerned for myself because I am considering the nordic green (with the chapparel leather) myself. anyway... I like the green a "long" time ago...

Erik, i know pictures don't do the color justice, but do you have pics? Let's see that bad boy!
