No More Rotaries? Collector's Item?

Just read in the newest Road & Track that a next generation rotary is far from a sure thing. Or if it is used it might go into a hybrid type engine.

Could we be the owners of the last true rotary powered cars? If so, do you think we might be holding a future collectible?

If it turns out that way, I may just have to retire mine with its 20k on the odometer and hold it. Maybe I'll sell it at the 2030 Barrett Jackson.

Yes, it's possible the RX-8 is the last rotary. It's also possible that it isn't, since Mazda isn't giving up.

Magazines produce lots of theories, often while sitting on the communal toilet looking for something to print.

Auto magazines are becoming like the inquirer.

Takashi Yamanouchi, president and CEO of Mazda Motor Company, has said recently:

I am very attached to the rotary engine, so as long as I'm president of Mazda, our R&D in this area will continue
So long as I remain involved with this company... there will be a rotary engine offering or multiple offerings in the lineup.

Our cars will become just like civics, forget about any "collectible" status.

You guys are right about car mags. If you pick up a 5 year old one, you realize how completely wrong they were.

Honestly, they need to go back to a turbo version.

I think a turbo version is likely honestly, but that is just a guess based on the fact that factory turbos are making a come back.

But I like my turbo version so far
