New RX8 owner from Chicago
Hi,
My name is Luis and I purchased my RX8 in the last couple months. I was looking to replace by old beater 92 Prelude. I found the 8 on craigslist and I got an amazing deal in my option. I am a huge car enthusiast specifically in Japanese cars. I have loved the Z32 aka 300zx since the car came out. My uncle purchased one new, and I actually own it today . I have 2 Z32's both Twin Turbos my garage queens and my Honda Ruckus which I also picked up at a steal from a good friend.
So I have been creeping on this site for a while and unfortunately did my research after I purchased it. The previous owner seemed to baby the car and seemed to do regular maintenance to her. She's an 04 with only 46k miles on her, six speed no doubt. The cold weather has hit in Chicago and I have not seen any start up issues which look very promising. I wish I had done a compression test but I have not seen any issues *knock on wood* I have been creeping on here for a couple months and have learned quite a bit although I have never seen a car forum with so many questions that have many "unanswered questions". For example what kind of oil is best and is synthetic okay.
Anyways, I look forward to learning more about the RX8 and the rotary engine. I hope to have the RX8 for a long time and trouble free for many years to come. I am also member of several other car forums like Z forums, a Ruckus forum and JDMChicago.
Anyways enough talk on to pictures...

The oil question is not unanswered, it actually has as many answers as there are people with differing opinions. Do your research and pick what you think is best because you won't get an answer that everyone agrees on.

Welcome fellow chicago rx8er.
Car looks clean, good pick-up it seems.
In regards to the oil, I personally went with 5w30 since it is a bit thicker and I felt that would be better for the engine. I don't use synthetic cuz I thought it would make it "lighter" and was even told to not use it by Mazda dealer (though these ppl seem stupid so dont go by that statement alone). Some ppl say it is fine to use synthetic, others say no. All personal opinion on what you want to use.

Hello lumiester123,
I'm one of the few remaining Chicago area people on here. The reason I'm still here should be obvious.
Everyone else is on EVOLV-Chicago (link). That's the place where the local rotary people hang out.
Also, my son has a 90 Z32 NA.
