I'm thinking about buying an RX-8 and I test drove a 2005 6speed manual Rx-8 sport, it has 65k miles on it.

I had a couple of concerns, but maybe they are normal with a rotary...

1. blue smoke from exhaust, suggests burning of excess oil maybe a compromised seal on a normal engine.

2. when it was in idle RPMs went from ~0-1000 then back down until the gas was pressed down then it idled fine.

3. a lot of oil odor after the initial startup and idle smelled similar to a leaf blower's exhaust.

It's from a dealership and they are asking 10k, i'm going to ask for a compression test log, but will they be honest is the question.

If anyone can provide me with a little insight on these cars and my questions that would be great.

Does it have a cat? Catless car smells like a catless two stroke engine (lawnmower).

Get the car tested at another dealer...However, does sound like trouble...
