New Potential RX-8 Buyer

Hello! I'm new to this forum and i was considering buying an Rx-8 and i had some questions i needed answering i noticed lots of people often downvote the rx-8 because of potential problems i personally think it's just them who had the problems due to their lack of proper maintenance so i wanted an owners opinion on a few things.

Recently i've been looking into buying an rx-8 my budget consists of 10,000 dollars. I'm trying to stay away from 2004 models since i hear lots of issues with those. i found quite a handful of 2005 models in my price range but their mileage is 90,000 and above so i'm not sure if i should spring into any of these offers i find. So i wanted an owners opinion on a few things.

firstly, Should i even consider any of these deals? even though they are above 90,000 miles.

How long do the engines usually last? I'm not looking forward to having to rebuild an engine the second i buy a car xD

If i do end up having to rebuild an engine how much would it cost on average?

And finally, Since the rx-8 has gone off production would it be more of a hassle to own one?

Thank you ^^

A sticky in this very subforum provides quite a few of your answers. https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-forum-197/new-potential-owners-start-here-202454/

The only one it doesn't answer is the last question.

Excuse my ignorance, but how does the lack of a 2013 model year impact cars that were produced in 2005? I can't fathom a way that there would be an impact....

Maybe all of those 1970s muscle cars are completely worthless and should be avoided at all costs, because they aren't being produced any more...

Well because the model year is outdated there's sometimes a scarce supply in parts that might need to be repaired such as the engine due to the halt in supply. and thank you i'll be sure to look into the post.

Federal law requires manufacturers to provide parts for 10 years past the last production like use for those parts. So Mazda has the option to stop reproducing Series 1 RX-8 parts at the end of 2018 (2008 + 10). They can choose to continue. They have to produce parts for the Series 2 RX-8 through 2022, many of which are also usable on the Series 1 (housings, rotors, most suspension, etc...)

They still produce parts for many RX-7s, and the youngest of those (in the US) is 17 years old.
