New guy here, does anyone actually like their RX-8?

Sooooooo, I just bought an 05 about three weeks ago. I researched the car, was aware of the issues, but I went and drove one and loved it despite.

Now, after more reading and sharing on other forums, I get no love for the new ride

Seems even on here there's alot of pissing and moaning and no posts saying how much people are enjoying their cars. I used to see those kinds of posts all the time on the forums I used to frequent.

Anyhow, here's some pics, nothing special. Will probably get some tint, some factory 18s and the molded splash guards. It's got 64k miles and feels strong, but found out it's covered under the extended warranty so I'm relieved about that.

And here's what I traded in for it:

Only thing that bothers me about the car is the silver part on the center console by the ebrake is scratched up with chunks missing??? Does anybody know if these pop off or can be replaced? I'd like to Di-noc them.

of course we LOVE our 8's, but if we post how we love them all day long, the people who really needs help wont be helped.
remember, only people who have problems with their cars post on forums.

read these threads:
the little things
how did you first find your 8

As for your question regarding the center console, search the diy's for fixing that

congrats and welcome to the addiction!

Ive had my 06 for only a few months, took me a year to find the right one and i wouldnt take back the choice to buy it for anything. Only a few little gripes with it like no aux, and mpg. But honestly not a big deal, and as far as mpg i didnt buy a hybrid for a reason... Im currently halfway through a road trip from ontario to quebec driving along side of some family in a honda civic and crv and even though they brought the more economical or practical rides when we drove the coast of lake superior every thing made sense. The hill filled winding coastal roads with the amazing view really made me realize why we buy cars like these.

At the end of the day as valuable as these forums are for information and such, form your own oppinion on the car from driving it and living with it. Dont let others moaning and whinning deter you.

Add me to the "I love my 8" list. The two threads RX8Soldier cited tell the truth. The chronic malcontents don't.

I've had my 8 for 2 years and almost 50 thousand miles and I haven't had one issue. Just do the basic stuff and enjoy. It's not a fast car like other fast cars on the street.

Now you sound like a nagging female, wanting us men to tell them we love them.....everyday...... sometimes more than once.
Real mean do not say I love you, they show it

Got rid of that nagging wife now just loving my ride.

I've been homeless, sleeping in my car refusing to give it up. I'd damn well do it again too I'd rather focus on keeping my business afloat as well as keeping my normal job. Amway for the win

I'm learning a lot because of my RX-8. Mechanically, I've been able to put my creative juices to work on my car. While I have yet to find the balance of creativity & Living (I often times forget about food is a need). I suppose it's love. And it's why my other half hates my car with a passion. Im surprised she hasn't left yet :P

For me, the rx-8 fits me, perfectly. I've driven a lot of cars in my life new and old. I can say quite happily I'd regret selling my RX-8, yes. I am selling her, but only to make my fiance shush about getting a yaris.

I find myself loving the drive, everytime someone pulls up in my car It's an instant "Oh ****, that's my car? Hell yes it is." Though, i find myself putting the pedal down every curve I see. Thank you cruise control!

I don't say it. I try to show it, to everyone. Whether it's vLEDs, Viper alarm system, finding 0% ethanol gas, etc. I'm learning how to apply vinyl, which I hope may become something I do for a little bit of extra income, or at the very least - develop the skill enough that I can teach the basics to others. Which I hope to do.

I love my 8, but some issues of it is making me not like it too much. Anyway, if you just take care of it, you will have fewer problems with it. Good luck and welcome to the club.

Seriously though, it's for the new guy to let him know how you always set yourself up for failure. Only a preventative measure so you don't drag these guys along in your direction

I had a mind to post a love thread on the way home from a track day a few weeks ago, but then I forgot. So here it is: you know when you look at your gf/wife whatever after a few years together, and you still find her hot/beautiful/whatever? RX-8 + track day = that

I hate my 8 from day 1, cuz it made me spent so much money to upgrade this and that. None of this would happen if I got a Camry or Civic or HHR !

Tomorrow it's going into the bodyshop it needs some love

I've had my 8 for about 3 months now, and I love it more and more every day. Nothing drives like an 8 does, looks like an 8 does, or gives me as much pleasure as an 8 does (car wise ).

It's great car, and it does have it's little gripes, but what car doesn't..? Anyways, welcome and nice color!

Well I must say, I feel in good company now! I was started to feel dumb for liking it so much when so many people were saying such negative things.

BUT, I didn't see anywhere about taking the silver accents off the center console in the DIY section, can anyone lend a hand? I'm about to take apart the whole thing to install my AUXMOD so I'll probably just start prying on ****, hehe.

Sweet, thanks. I hate being one of those "I can't find it types", but, I couldn't find it
