New to the Forum - CAN/US Purchase?
Hello everybody, I am new to this forum and would like to introduce myself.
I live in Canada and I own a 2002 Mazda Protégé. I have been drooling over the RX-8 for almost a year now. It is good to find a place where the information and knowledge are concentrated in one forum.
My only inconvenient with the RX-8 is that I can't imagine fitting my hockey bag into it: the trunk is big enough, no question there, but the trunk door isn't big enough, and the protruding transmission column in the back seat guarantees I wouldn't be tossing my hockey bag & stick there, like I do with my Protégé.
Besides this, I think the car's brilliant.
I have a question: I might be interested in purchasing a car in the US and bringing it back to Canada as my personal vehicle, and I would like to know of any special rules, paperwork, fees applicable to that situation. So basically if anyone has experience doing a CAN/US car purchase, would be very helpful if you could share your wisdom.
Maybe by summer I can move into an RX-8, and I can stop driving my Protégé like a race car!

I've put my hockey bag in the back or passenger seat as well as my sticks.
As for importing...there is a website like riv.ca or something. Basically you will have to pay duty and then later have the car "repaired". It will need daytime running lamps and a higher impact bumper.
It might and I stress might be cheaper to find one locally.
Good luck with the purchase and import!
