New to this
I am thinking about getting this car. I know when I goto the dealership they will not tell me exactly how to drive this car. I need some insight on how to properly drive and maintain this car before I drop the money. Any year but I want a manual. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
Take some time and read the stickies. You can also start by clicking below and reading through that post. Also be aware that not everyone here agrees on every point so research and make your own decisions. Things like what kind of oil to use, whether or not to premix, etc. are things that everyone has their own opinions on and some of this stuff your dealer will almost definitely not recommend to you even though many believe it is best.
This is a general comment but I think there is a large consensus that the rotary likes to be driven hard, at least often enough to keep the gunk cleared out (see "redlining daily").

Good luck!

Easy easy habits you will need to become acquinted with:
Check oil every 3 fillups (car burns oil by design)
Make sure car is warm before you play (hard driving - no cold motor revving)
Make sure car is warm before shut down
Redline the car every so often ( dont be afraid, its good for the car)
Another quick tip, be sure to look into 06+ since most of the 'kinks' were ironed out in those years. Series II (09+) seems to have almost all the bugs worked out and there have been little complaints from owners thus far.
RX's can be reliable fun daily drivers as long as you follow some simple rituals and keep up with maintenance. Another thing is these cars require ignition tune ups a alittle more frequently than most piston counterparts. (every 30K miles). This is something you dont want to miss or skimp out on.
Also, if you're buying pre-driven with a few miles; request service records, a carfax, and a compression test for 04-08 models.
Goodluck with your search, be sure to check the sticky by the member 'RIWWP'. He has a great thread for considering buyers that are new to rotary.
