Exclamation My Rx8 Mods...flywheel,exhaust,swaybars,intake, suspension... etc...

I am posting this thread to list all the mods i've done to my 8 , what i think of each one and how much it cost me. first off let me just say that i've been slowly building my Rx8 up to put a FI system on it. Preferably the Pettit supercharger....

(in order)
K&N Typhoon intake: $265.00 this Mod made the rx8 sound real loud and throaty. a very sporty sound but beyond that i did'nt feel a difference.

Tein-S springs: $145.00 install $100.00 They made the 8 have a much lower apearance and they were somewhat stiffer. I had to get an alignment immediately after because of steering pull and tire wear. I would have rather waited and bought the Tein coil over suspension instead. i think they detracted from the cars handling a little bit.

Racingbeat front and rear sway bars: $185 & $155. install $70 this was my single and most favorite mod i've made. the car felt much stiffer and handling increased significantly. steering response was more immediate. Turn in was a lot better than stock.

Mazda speed Front facia: total cost $900.00 made the car stand out. looks very nice. A little bit lower than stock GT front so you have to be careful on curbs and what not.

PIAA super rozza 19" hyper black rims: total cost: $3150.00 235/35 fr 275/30 r
I think these Rims look great on the 8. the weight is the same as the stock rim so no real performance gain was attained besides a little extra grip in the rear. they were pricey but worth it to me.

Greddy rear strut: $120.00 Honestly i think this mod is just for looks. i could feel no difference what so ever. looks cool in trunk though.

Racingbeat exhaust: $560.00 install $30.00 : the exhaust looks and sounds great. It does'nt sound cheap or loud at all. i guess you could compare it to a
350Z's stock exhaust, just a little bit louder and deeper. hardly noticable inside.

ACT prolite flywheel & clutch: $750.00 install $230.00: the flywheel was 13.5lbs, stock was 17.6. so i saved 4 lbs i guess. revs are quicker, but i can't notice and HP gain. the clutch grabs about 1 inch from the floor instead of halfway out. the friction point is almost immediate. i did this mod to get the car ready for FI. as soon as Pettit releases their SC kit im pretty sure my car should be ready for it.

Next mod: pettit SC stage II. im going SC over turbo because it's simpler. less heat under the hood. easier to maintain. immediate throttle resonse. easier to tune and install, and seems to be more reliable compared to a lot of Turbo kits out there.

Are you looking to AutoX or Street Race or Show?

Are you looking to AutoX or Street Race or Show? I bet that a nice looking RX-8 with alot of suspension and exhaust upgrade. How many horses have you gained in these upgrades? Usually an exhaust upgrade can give 5-20 more hp.
