My new car and "introduction" to the forum
Decided that instead of me asking you guys questions about a car that I was thinking about getting, I should show it off and introduce myself to the car forum.
2007 Mazda RX-8 GT
During my search for an rx-8 I was a bit hesitant about the black and red interior, but I got to say it definitely grows on you. Oh it's as comfortable as riding on jesus's lap.. I figured he'd make a pretty comfortable seat
Got it purchased from a local dealership for just a bit under 17k, around 16.8 before taxes with 27k miles on it.
I've got a somewhat informed knowledge about care for the car, I ended up reading about half the manual at work and did about 2 months of searching on the internet to make sure I could properly maintain this car. I've got a quart of regular oil in the back of the trunk for it's every other fill-up oil guzzle refill. I've been pretty cautious with cold starts and not letting the engine get shut off until it reaches optimal temperature.
I do have a few questions that I haven't been able to find scouring the internet.
I know that the 03-05 models had big problems with flooding usually due to cold starts and other problems which were to be corrected with the 06 model. One of the recalls for the older versions was a PCM flash that was supposed to correct the problems with flooding. I didn't see any recalls on the 07 model but are people still getting firmware upgrades on the computer of the car?
Any other rx-8 care tips i might have skipped over would be helpful, I want this to be a long lasting and loving relationship between me and mr rx-8

Welcome to the forum. For the spme of the same reasons you indicated, I also purchased an 07 Sport model Stormy Blue Mica 3500 miles. I have logged some hard miles perhaps 300 and find for me it will require Racing Beat sway bars and reinforced end links. Keep checking the oil and get it changed every 2500 miles or soon thereafter. I redline it more than once per day and suggest you do so as well. I am not aware of any firmware upgrades as my dealer services my 89 RX7 GTU track/show toy and would have performed same even with the low mileage. They suggested coil and plug replacement at 15k miles to avoid some problems. I am a firm believer in Racing Beat components. My 7 sounds so much better following a recent install of a cat back - perhaps one for the 8. ... 8TRACK
