My lucky day

It was a Friday afternoon of the long weekend.

I was driving 3 girls to a bar, on my way to work.

I was entering a 270 degree highway on ramp from a street.

Finch Ave E and 404 North

Obviously, to impress the girls and have my daily redline exercise for the car, I asked the girls to hold on tight and dropped to 2nd gear.

The rest was pure screaming and laughing time.

So, there I was, feeling the lateral G's when the speed increased from 45km, to 55km, to 75km, to 85km...by the end of the on-ramp, I was doing 90+ and redlining in 2nd gear.

Naturally, I gave little thoughts to cars on the highway, and I promptly cut into the rightmost lane when I have a chance.

Little did I know, the car behind me, was an UNMARKED COP CAR.

Now, imagine you're that cop. Having your donut, driving along the highway on the slow lane doing 100. Suddenly OUT OF FCKING NO WHERE, a blue rx8 went in screaming hell and cut you off.

I saw his mouth with a "WTF" expression, and I was having the same expression on my face.

I promptly shift to sixth gear and do 100km/h (speed limit), and raise my right hand to the mirror, saying my "thank you for letting me merge" sign.

As if nothing happened.

The cop stuck to my *** real close, probably thinking of ways to book me. However, he cannot. Since he just saw me out of no where and cut in front of him with signaling and all, even if I was loud as fck with my Mazdaspeed exhaust in 2nd gear, redlining bouncing off the overpass, he can do jack shxt.

But HE WAS PISSED OFF. I know.

So there I am, driving 100km/h in sixth gear followed by an unmarked cop cruiser.

within 30second, I went for the exit (Yes its the exit I intended to go regardless). He followed.

I waited for the lights.

And waited.

And waited.

And then he kept going straight on the exit, while I turned right.

I cant stop laughing afterwards.

Its my lucky day. I love my car!

LESSON LEARNED:
Only speed in on-ramps and always use your signal lights!

u got real lucky.

but that will never work in NYC. cuz as soon as you **** a cop off, they can go ahead pull u over and give you whatever bullshit tickets they can come up with. Reckless driving for example. If they really hate you, they can just say "I think you have a weapon in the car", pull their guns out and put 50 rounds on you.

thats not fair to say. I have 2 cousins that are NYC cops. some are bad yes, but there are a lot of good ones too. with that said I have run into a lot of ***** cops., but we need to be grateful to the decent ones.

Well I guess my point is...I was lucky.

And the fact that, the rx8 can have so much speed in the corners...I was speeding in the most unlikely places...and that helps me to be lucky.

Imagine if I got a 350z (oops cant have 3 hot chicks in there...) / Mustang GT i will probably just stump on the gas after the on ramp and get BOOKED instantly lol

just be glad you weren't protesting and didn't move fast enough if a cop tells you to move it.

I know the feeling.

Hey Kafka, I know that feeling of luck.

When you don't have to slow down taking a 90 degree turn it throws cops for a loop.

There is a 40 mph road that makes a radical turn into another 40 mph road by my house. I never slow down when I take that turn. (It actually feels like the 8 could take the turn going much faster.)

The other day a cop was stalking the street from an alleyway and he saw me take the turn without braking.

He turned on his lights and blared his siren for a moment at me. I freaked out and figured I was about to get a ticket for wreckless driving, so I pulled over and waited for the cop to catch up with me.

Maybe the cop was pleased that I pulled over instead of taking off like a bat out of hell (I'm pretty sure I could have gotten away seeing that they had to pull out of the alley and catch up to me) or maybe it was just my lucky day...

Whatever, the cop slowed down next to me - blared their siren for a second- and then kept on going after looking directly at me and giving me a scowl.

*
HaHaHa, and oh, once at a stoplight leading into a 55 zone, I didn't realize I had an umarked policecar directly behind me and I did 0-55 as fast as the 8 would take me...wheee.....and honestly I don't think the cop even noticed other than the loud noise the engine made. Wheee, gotta love the 8's torque!

Oh well, the lousy torque will keep me from getting arrested at least till I boost it.

Also, I asked one of the grils: "Do you find it more exciting to be thrown sideway then feeling the thrust?" "...yeah..." "alright lets do it again!" "NOooooooooooooo!"

OK quick question - what's the speedlimit on that road?

Second, I had a similar experience a few nights back. I have a poker league two times a week at a bowling alley/bar that sits just off the local expressway and I like to get in a redline or two getting back onto it after poker. The on-ramp has two lanes - the left one takes you onto the expressway and the right lane ends as an exit in about a 1/2 mile. The speed limit on the expressway is 55mph.

Everyone goes into the left lane to avoid the exit, which suits me fine, because I use it to get my 1 or 2 redlines in and also to pass the slow pokes climbing up the on-ramp. Of course, redlining 2nd takes me to about 62mph (and the speedo momentarily floats up to 65 once I shift into 6th).

So, 2 trucks are ahead of me in the left lane. I do my thing in the right lane and eye up the closing gap between myself and the last truck to gauge if I'm going to make it past them before my lane turns into an exit. As I look, I notice just ahead there's a cop sitting in one of those service vehicle u-turns.

I glance down to the speedo - 62mph, no sweat. Everyone goes 62, I think, I'm fine. So I pass the last truck and watch for him to show up in my rear view so I can swing over. Again I see the squad car...and its pulling out. DAMMIT!

I get off the throttle and decide that if I'm going to get pulled over I don't want to be sitting on the expressway. I stay in the right lane and take the exit(I wasn't try to avoid the ticket, the exit was in plain view of the cop ). To make matters worse, I'm looking around as I exit and notice there is no on-ramp back on to the
expressway. I chalk it up to "when it rains, it pours" and pull over on the side of the road.

The cop never came down to ticket me. Maybe he knew the exit had no on-ramp and decided it wasn't worth his time to just give me a warning.

Speed limit on that road was 60km/h...the on ramp suggested speed is 50km/h :P
