Msp04????

I already had the "M" flash done a few weeks ago, but yesterday I took my 8 in for the AC amplifier and they listed a new recall flash that fixed engine starts and lack of power. I noticed a slight improvement the last time the car was flashed, but with the flash from yesterday, it was the best this car has driven by far. It feels like it has a LOT more power in the lower gears, and even at 3-4k rpm's it feels like it has more power than 5k before.

Is this a new flash or does this sound like maybe they just didnt flash it to the latest version last time? I know for sure they said they did the latest version they had last time (which the sticker on the side seemed to make it look like the M flash) but the one yesterday just says "Recall MSP04"

What does everyone think?

Everyone thinks that if you've read the tech bulletins on the www.finishlineperformance.com web site, or done any reading in the Tech forum section, you'd know that the MSP04 program is just a way to force all the Mazda dealers to apply the M Flash to every RX-8 that enters their service department. It's just the same old M Flash as before.

Regards,
Gordon

It appears that Mazda wants to be absolutely sure that all RX-8s have the "M"-flash. When you and I first got "M"-flashed, the Mazda service computer system did not have a code for it, now it does.

Like you, I already had it, went in for the A/C amplifier upgrade, and saw MSP04 on the ticket.

I did not notice any "turbo" effects after the service as you have .

they probably cleared the memory after they did the Flash this time. or they only brought you to L last time becasue they didn't bother to update their WDS before they flashed your car.
