Msp Vs Rx-8

hey everyone wuts up?

Well, I just bought a stock 04 RX-8 4AT this weekend. So far the car has been great... One of my bestfriends is dying for me to take me car to countyline which is a drag strip with 1/8 of a mile. To get to the point, does my car even have a chance against a stock mazdaspeed protege?

Thanks...

With an 04 AT, you dont have much hope against anything, now take him to an Auto-X and you should have em.

I agree. You get no respect if you have an AT.

be advised.. I dont judge any of you for having an AT or MT engine... the 8 is a sick car no matter which version you drive.. one just happens to be faster than the other. I just happen to prefer MTs myself (5 of 7 vehicles I have owned were/are all MT). an 8 is an 8 when it comes to respect from my end. both do the legal speed limits and have the rotary engine under the hood. I'd toast beers with any one of you.

I prefer MT... although i do like being lazy and drive AT's once in a while.

the plus about AT's is you can have a girl in your lap and not have to get her to move everytime you shift... unless you're a girl in which case i have no answer.

back on topic!

- The AT does produce a good amount of torque (compared to it's M/T brothers) but it is still a relatively low number for a dragstrip showdown.

- You'll own the MSP on an autocross track though as the handling and weight distrubition on an 8 is top notch.

- Don't worry about getting flamed for driving an A/T. Yes, we are sometimes harsh to some members here (mainly when they ask stupid questions) but it seldom has little or nothign to do with what version they drive.

The MSProtege is pretty darn quick in an autocross BTW. The handling on that car is brilliant. One must be a pretty good autocrosser to beat its time.

Just go to the AT section.

Welcome and don't forget to read the stickies.

Some people don't realize you have to have an AT for traffic.

if they weren't STOCK, how can you even be comparing the two cars?

That would be like us putting Mazdamaniac's Turbo'd 8 agains their msps.

MSP stocks aren't that fast......at least the MP5 was retarded, cus I rode in my friend's and it just sounded like a slowly dying beast.......

but as I said before, if you have an AT, even though you might be able to kill something, its ok, the forum insight is that you can't beat a corolla

and damn you razz!!! should have taken a closer look at ur car at SSX, but half the time I was sleeping in mine

thankgod for 180 degree seats
