Well, I just bought a stock 04 RX-8 4AT this weekend. So far the car has been great... One of my bestfriends is dying for me to take me car to countyline which is a drag strip with 1/8 of a mile. To get to the point, does my car even have a chance against a stock mazdaspeed protege?
Thanks...

With an 04 AT, you dont have much hope against anything, now take him to an Auto-X and you should have em.
be advised.. I dont judge any of you for having an AT or MT engine... the 8 is a sick car no matter which version you drive.. one just happens to be faster than the other. I just happen to prefer MTs myself (5 of 7 vehicles I have owned were/are all MT). an 8 is an 8 when it comes to respect from my end. both do the legal speed limits and have the rotary engine under the hood. I'd toast beers with any one of you.
I prefer MT... although i do like being lazy and drive AT's once in a while.
the plus about AT's is you can have a girl in your lap and not have to get her to move everytime you shift... unless you're a girl in which case i have no answer.

Not just a little faster, significantly faster.

- The AT does produce a good amount of torque (compared to it's M/T brothers) but it is still a relatively low number for a dragstrip showdown.
- You'll own the MSP on an autocross track though as the handling and weight distrubition on an 8 is top notch.
- Don't worry about getting flamed for driving an A/T. Yes, we are sometimes harsh to some members here (mainly when they ask stupid questions) but it seldom has little or nothign to do with what version they drive.
ive cruised with 2 friends that had msps we were just chillin but i know for a fact they could RAPE YOU. they arent stock at all but still... you know where im coming from.
