Moment of Truth
After many weeks of reviewing this forum, I have collated a number of issues with the first year RX8, as follows:
Engine problems (coolant leaks, mayonnaise on dipstick, oil in air cleaner), transmission, cracks in ***** and switches, center arm rest problems, rattles and squeaks, poor gas mileage, multiple ECU programming issues, defective cats, wind noise, excessive cabin heat from rotary engine, gear shifter sticking, exhause smoot and stains, uncertain long term reliability, and apparent questions regarding MAZDA integrity related to potential misrepresentations in the owners manual.
Obviously, not all cars suffer these problems, and it is not my intention to indicate they do. First year cars always have issues, but the number of issues with the 8 are unexpected from a company like MAZDA. It appears MAZDA might have released the 8 prematurely. There is no doubt from the overwhelming number of posts that the car is a blast to drive.
I understand this thread will anger some members. This is not my intention.
Question: If you knew prior to purchasing your 8 what you know now, would you still have bought it?
Thank you for your honest responses.

HELL YES!!!
The only issue I have had is a rattle in the door, the dealer fixed that.
I think this is more of a world information issue then an abnormal amount of issues with the RX8. Think of it like this information like this was not a avalible 10 years ago, so now everyone gets to bitch about problems on a public forum. If you look at other car forums I bet you will see the same from any car or at least any car thats worth having a forum.

My 8 was one of the first 10 cars delivered in the states. I have never had a flooding issus of any type. Still on the original ECU
program (may update at next free service). Get 18 to 21 mpg since day one. Wish I got 100 mpg, but be real this is a sports car
and my other choice(g35 coupe) are not getting any better mileage per their owners forum. My only issue is poor A/C performance. Would I buy it again? HELL YES!!

I've been following the development of the new rotary since they stopped importing the RX-7 in 1996... RX-01, RX-Evolv, etc
I've read about the "many" problems with the car, but it still managed to get International engine of the year awards 2 yrs in a row plus many other awards around the world. Also the low cost of ownership by jb associates?
If I didn't have the problems at work that I do now and felt I had enough job security to be able to afford the car in the years to come I'd definetely buy it...
