TX Mizu Silicone Coolant Hoses Review & Comparison to SAMCO silicone hoses

I just received my Mizu radiator hoses today from www.sparkplugs.com and since I have a brand new set of SAMCO hoses on hand I thought I would give you guys a quick comparison. SAMCO is supposed to be some good stuff but in my opinion these Mizu hoses appear to be constructed quite a bit better than the SAMCO hoses.

I should have my new motor and turbo setup in my car within the next few weeks if I don't run into any more snags. Then I will have these installed along with the Mizu aluminum radiator and Fan pack.

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...highlight=mizu

Then we will see how everything performs and I will post up some data.

this thread is PERFECT!
I've been looking into both of these brands. I was gonna just bite the bullet and go samco, but I'm storing for the winter, so I'll wait until I've read your review!

Sorry about that...its a new product and hadn't been added yet:
Directly to hose kit: http://sparkplugs.com/results_cross....x804bk&x=0&y=0

List of RX8s with Mizu product:
http://sparkplugs.com/results_fitment.asp?pid=hrx804bk

Mizu is gradually adding to their product lineup, and has an end goal of providing intercoolers, tstats, heater hoses, misc hoses, and motorcycle radiators.

Thermostats? Awesome. Possibly secondary radiators or oil coolers as well (hint hint)?

I wasn't sure where to put it since I'm not sure it's really a performance modification.

The Mizu certainly has a better construction. They probably have a better manufacturing process.

Yeah at first I thought they might be see the same hoses, just re-branded but when you compare them it's obvious they are made by different manufacturers. a pressure test would be nice to see which is stronger but based on my comparison, I feel much better about the Mizu over the SAMCO. Some of the other SAMCO hoses even had loose strands of fibers at the ends.

Mizu definitely looks better constructed, but I didn't see how many hoses it comes with. Samco comes with 6 or something. How many does mizu come with?

I swear those Civic guys told me each silicone hose adds about 3 hp, and if it's in Blue it adds another 2 hp ... if it's red then it's 5 ...

dude, imagine they both actually came from the same assembly line ... cuz honestly, I don't think Mizu makes their own hose, I'm 90% sure they bought it from some big supplier then just warp it around in black tape and stick their badges on it.

I have Greddy set (just 3 piece) in the car for 3 yrs already, still strong as day 1. I mean I will probably replace it next year, cuz I bought a set of Samco (full set, has all hose) a while ago and looking to replace everything with it.

Yeah both brands appear to have stickers on them so they are definitely re-branded (very few brands actually manufacture their own products anyway) but Mizu appears to have a better supplier that is for sure. that said, I have never really heard of any brand of silicone hoses failing prematurely on the RX-8. But, in comparing the Mizu to the Samco I feel much better about running the Mizu hoses.

I'm just curious about the radiator. wonder how it compares to my Knight Sports Rad that's almost double the size of stock

Well my testing of the radiator was skewed because my engine was leaking coolant into the combustion chamber. but, I will know soon

They are holding up just fine. My turbo is being upgraded by Turblown right now so my car is not running for a couple of weeks but the Texas8 and the Texas summer is coming up, that will be the real world test. But so far they are holding up great and did just fine thru my break in period on the new motor. Fitment was perfect (samco kits had fitment issues) and I highly recommend them and www.sparkplugs.com. When you order from them tell them you are a member of this club.

Bump for info. There has been some reported problems with the Samco hoses as well. I will report back when we install them on Hoss-05's car soon.
