Hey guys, just wanted to check and make sure I have everything i need regarding springs and shocks:

As you can suspect I'm looking to set my ride up with koni yellows w/ tein s-tech springs. First time suspension installer so just making sure i didn't forget something important.

If the rear shocks are adjustable you may need adjuster cables?

i'm just going to toss this out there. i have a set of used koni yellows and tein springs that i never got around to installing and have changed my mind on the direction i am going. i don't know how many miles are on them but if you want some pretty cheap, i'm in CT and have a set. i bought them from a forum member and figured that i'd use them for as long as they had life and rebuild them if they needed to down the road and still end up ahead but will now wait for my OEMs to go and then will probably look at some dspecs.


EDIT: these konis have been sold. i'm editing this post because i have had a few inquiries on them but the konis are long since gone.

Thanks for the heads up. I think that the rears are actually externally adjustable though. They have the ***** at the top.

Yup you gotta take the rears off to adjust for the konis though

yea, i would prefer D specs just because they are easier to adjust

You can't get to the tops of the rear shocks once they are installed!

So if the Konis don't have adjuster cables then get the D-specs; The adjuster cable for D-Spec is about $30

I never adjusted my Koni's one time. I haven't adjusted my coilovers yet either (I really need to though lol). Just because you have a million settings doesn't mean you are going to use them. Moral of the story: Don't base the purchase just on ease of adjustability. Check and see if you can ride in cars with both types of shocks and then compare.

Well, spent some time digging through the billion threads about koni vs tokiko d-spec ... looks like my decision is going to be the tokiko since it will give me the freedom of adjusting and will give me a better sense when installing the shocks knowing that i can always fix mismatched settings even when the shocks are installed.

Now to decide on the method to use lol ... never installed springs before. Found a ton of threads, some that remove ball joints and some that dont ..... the one that doesn't remove balljoints looks like it is a lot more involved and more advanced though.

If you just do street driving tokico is a very nice shock, but if you plan to track the car later I will buy Koni.
I took off the camber adjustment blot on rear to take out my shock, it is way easier. you need a alignment anyway after the installation..

Yea this car is my DD so I dont plan on making it a track car in the immediate future so I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the tokico's. And it sure does look easier removing the adjustment bolt. I was planning on following the instructions here

last question for you guys. i am looking at assaultech and they are listing the D-Spec for 03-06 ... will they work up to 10?

actually, i'm pretty sure the S1 and S2 have different setups. I remember someone selling konis for the S2 so I'd assume they are different.

Guess that means that i can spend the money on the GreddySE i want instead until the suspension kits come out heh.
