Make rx8 faster...
Hi all i am new to the rx8 i am considering 2 cars a wrx or a rx8... i was just wondering what can i do to make the rx8 faster with out a turbo? and if i do need a turbo how much will all this cost me thx

lol ya i do like to do that.. but the wrx has a lot of tranny problems.. and rx8 is real nice looking im going to test drive 1 if i like it i might get it..
can you help me find another 4 door sedan thats fast?

lol your funny man, this isnt the car for you if you wanna go fast. and if u do get this. you will spend an arm and a leg just to get a Super/turbo charger......get a mazda 6 turbo coming out soon..........

if prices is a concern, get the Lancer Evolution RS. It DOES come with an a/c, no urban jungle editions are offered, on RS. MSRP I believe is 26,800. It will destroy the WRX, and cost the same after all the options. Unless you could find a 2004 WRX, it will be cheaper, but 2005 has been out for awhile now

the 05 wrx had a rework of the interior. its much nicer. auto climate control (not on the us spec rx8) and a very good radio (also no on any rx8 from the factory). the wrx has excelent front seats, super cold ac (to the point that it blows steam), nice turbo kick. for those of you who remember, about 2 weeks ago i said that i left my dream of owning an rx8 for a wrx. well thats over. i had a brain fart and realised that i need my rotary zoom zoom.

Well if you got the big bucks then get the RX-8 and with the right ca$h you can make what ever car you wont fast. And if you dont get you can always get a Neon.

if u wanna pure performance car. and the price around 26k and.. u don't even care about the interior. and comfortable. evo rs is ur best choice. but. but.... if u do car about the all stuff u always got to face with. buy 8. no doubt 8 is ur best choice.

Shouldn't deter people from driving such a wonderful car. If you can make a 4 banger civic go from 16 sec to 12 seconds god forbid you can make the rx8 "go faster". Its easy to make the rx8 go faster smaller diameter rims, replace the cat with more high flowing one, and retuned to ecu up to factory specs. From what I've been told the exhaust manifold is the key to unlocking some potential in the 8. If you're looking for pure speed, boy get a yamaha r1 :D. Now thats fast.

so let me get this straight... u want a 4 door car with lots of power, but not an evo or sti or srt4. well the rx8 doesnt seem like the right car for u if you just wanna go fast immediately and u keep saying the cons of the wrx... Intriguing... i would say the new corrola xls? or something like that its a freaken fast car, but honestly just get an accord cuz wat you're lookin isnt in the rx8... most likely the sti or the evo

You want more torque at low revs, well, an NA rotary is not for you - get an Evo.

I still don't get how people say the 8 is slow it's just as quick or quicker than a WRX, that rush up high is great. I don't see much of comparsion between the two. The rex is ugly IMO and it's a me too car--"hey I got a rex"==ME TOO. Seems like i see only 18 year olds that can't drive worth a lick driving those. Yet again another econo box supped up BFD!

If you want a real car, buy an RX-8. There's plenty you can do to make it go fast, but be prepared to pay dearly in terms of both cost upfront and longterm reliability.
Back before you were even a bad idea in your parent's minds, I had a 1985 RX-7 GS with 105 hp from the factory. Just a small turn of the screwdriver made that car run an extra half-second faster to 60 mph, and for only a few hundred dollars, I installed a turbo kit that had the thing beating Corvettes off the line.
It can be done, but unless you spend big dough, the gains are incremental. This is a seriously fast car to start with.
Here's a suggestion: Instead of parts for the car, how about skill for the driver. The best $2,500 I've ever spent on a car transferred from the car I bought it with to my RX-8. It's called Skip Barber Racing School.

no man you got it all wrong i dont want a car with 500 hp and i dont want nos i just want nice looking car that has some power it doesnt have to be OMG THAT THING IS FREEKIN FAST!! just fast and get there in style.. oh ya and if i do get one it will be used because im not that rich..

I've heard someone say this on here before, so whoever said this before don't be mad, they said something along the lines of "it isn't how fast you get 0-60 it is how good you look getting there." and HOLY CRAP you will look GOOD getting there in an RX8 :D

Well, I'm really surprised no one here has mentioned the point I immediately thought of in response to this question:
I've read at least THREE head to head comparisons between the 350Z and the RX-8. ALL reviews noted the 350Z was faster and torquier. However, strait line speed isn't everything. In ALL reviews the RX-8 came out ahead. In fact, I got the feeling from one long term comparison that they were not even excited by the 350Z anymore (ride was too harsh for everyday riding), while the RX-8 still gave joy like it was Christmas every time they drove it. Sorry I waxed poetic for a second.
I've only had mine for one night, and I'm already in love. I'm still babying it for break-in, but I have found it to be more than fast enough for both empty and crowded freeways. If you really want what you say above, the RX-8 will put a grin on your face without any mods.
