Question looking to buy - engine question

Hi, seems you have a great forum here.

just went for my first test drive in an RX8 ...fantastic....

car was very good, but my question relates to the engine.

When it was running at standstill it had a slight wobble,

This is the first rotary I've ever seen running so my impression was that it would completely smooth at idol. Is it normal for an rotary that's done 60,000 klms to have a bit of shake?

It's not vibration free like a turbine. It's more like a smooth running conventional engine.

If there's much of a vibration at idle, there could be a bad engine mount.

Yep. Vibration at idle is usually a bad engine mount. Right side.
Is this an AT or an MT?

Are you talking about the feel or the sound? You shouldn't feel any vibration from the engine at idle. If you're talking about hearing WHIR-whup-whup-WHIR-whup-whup instead of WHIIIIIIR at idle, that's normal.

Thanks for that, yes ... the engine mount sounds like a good explanation.

it's more like a normal shake from a conventional engine that's getting on a bit.
