Cool Looking at 2008 RX-8

Hey everyone, new to the forum here. I just have a question about RX-8's.

I'm currently driving a 2005 Mazda 6s Sports sedan V6. I'm considering for my 21st birthday to buy a 2008 RX-8 in February 2008, and I know that the 2008 is a ways off from now but I was curious about what you guys personally think about the RX-8 and what and if there are problems I might wanna be concerened about that you have run into.

Thanks,
Sport

yes.. there are problems, but only in the earlier years.. know one even knows if theres going ot be a2008, or if there is going to be any changes.......you asked way to early... just know, its underpowered (as of right now) it sucks on gas, and it costs a very pretty penny to make it faster, itys a not a straight line car, and most cars you'll get beat by

For the 2008's there are only 2-3 flash updates, one recall, and a few problems with engine flooding, but only for the new color, baby-**** green.

Haha, the sad thing is that this has a pretty decent chance of being true.

Thanks for the replys. I know what your saying about me asking to early I know it's early. I was just trying to get some feedback on what it's like in general to drive the RX-8 thats all. Forget about the 2008, I don't know if there will be one.

It is a great car to drive - a lot more fun than the Mazda 6. A properly balanced RWD with uncanny driver feedback and amazing agility.

If you want a straight line car - buy something else. It you want a driver's car instead of a caveman's car, then get the rx8.

thats funny.. he said the same thing i pretty much did.. your turn to rag on him!
alos.. hes turning 21.. unless he is a VERY mature 21 year old, he is going to want to go fast once in awhile.. some punk in their parents car thinks their cool or something.. being 21.. you are still in that "i dont think so stage".. (considering im 21 myself.. im mature... but i still want to go quick from time to time.. im proud of the car i have), i was just letting him know the only down points to the car..... if you noticed thats all i said were the negative points.. which there wasnt very much of,
it sucks on gas... - true..
its not a straight line car - True
If he wants it to go faster he'll have to spend quite the extra cash for it.. - true...

unless you disagree with me on those?

I'm 20 and I'm more mature than all of you. =P

Even if they don't make a 2008 rx-8, or if they drastically change it, you can always get a 2007 or 2006 or any year for that matter! They all kick ***!

And you're not asking too early. I started looking at rx-8s when I was 17. Talk about maturity, I waited 3 years and still want it just as bad now as I did then.

Not sure about 08. There are rumors of an RX7 comming out by then. I've seen a pic (drawing) on here. It basically looks like a 2D RX8. That'd be cool.

Cars usually get "facelifts" every 4 years or so. Seeing how the 8 came out, when was it, 03 I think? If this is correct then she'll be due about that same time. Since the only change, I can tell, the 8 has had since 03 was colors & an Ipod Adapter, then it may be a minor aesthetic & mechanical revamp. However, if Mazda is facing stiff competition, which they are, then they might go for a overhaul. This may make a cooler, faster, car. Then again, it may, as in the case of the MR2 and MR2 Spyder, turn a perfectly cool car into a joke.

No telling. Keep your ear to the ground and search the internet for CONCEPT designs. Chances are Mazda'll use some of the most practical concepts for production cues.

Okay, I'll ask the difficult question that everybody over the age of 30 on this board wonders when a post like this appears:

WHO THE FAP CAN BUY A BRAND NEW $40,000 (canuck bucks) CAR WHEN THEY'RE 21 AND YOUNGER?????

Please explain. And type in large letters for our failing eyesight!

hey man if you're really interested than try doing some unbiased research .. every time i see one of those questions .. the answers seriously butcher everything about the car .. you have plenty of time to read through forums articles etc .. there is plenty of material about the 8 .. a lot a lot of positive and some negative too .. but for purchase more than a year away .. i would say get yourself familiar with the car .. and then do comparisons when time comes .. right now i personally would still take the 8 over anything else though something better nicer may come out ... the only diff now would be that i would consider picking it up used rather then getting brand new .. there are apparently enough ppl there who failed at research that would let it go for a true bargain .. so why not cash in .. gl bro

Easy_E1 is right.

Plus, I looked at the car for 2 1/2 years and knew I wanted it. So I worked for it. And now I have it. =)

I think 2008 will be the last year since the car was introducted in 2003. As far as replacement, I am not sure since stricter emission rules is schedule for 2009. I hope they bring a RX-7 and a RX-8 back. See how the RX-8 had tons of great sales at the beginning, then faded out quickly? If they fix all the problems, maybe the rotary will sell much more.

Sometimes, entry level jobs out of college pay quite well. No student loans help.

I'd be surprised if there was no 2008 RX-8. After all, FD production lasted 10 years (1992-2002 model years in Japan) with sales figures only a fraction of the RX-8.

I was 18 when I got my RX-8. Now I drive a Mazdaspeed 6 (20). How do we afford it? I work 2 jobs and go to school.
