Because the dual throttles are electronically controlled (throttle by wire) the new renesis will require 2 signals from the ecu to control throttle position. There are currently no standalone ecu's that do this. When they do come up with a standalone it will be very difficult to tune because this means 2 more variables to account for. What do you guys think of this?

For me, I don't care really. I'm not a tuner, and 250 HP is fine with me. For anyone who wants more power, they can wait for the rumoured turbo I guess.
the only real problem i see with this car is it is already too perfect to tune. both enterior and exterior look like a million bucks. it will be difficult to improve upon this car, and it will already stand out as it is. :D
I'd tend to dissagree. I dont know what kind of modding youre into, but at least from my school of thought, the chip really isnt all the important. My current car (96' Integra GS-R) ecu will adapt to any physical modifiactions simply by resetting the chip and letting the car run for 10 minutes.
Besides that, i'm sure every single big name in modding will make something for the RX-8, since its sure to be such a novelty car, and will probably end up as countless showcase vehicles. So I really dont see how having a computer controlled throttle will change anything.
I'm sure aftermarket companies will find ways around the ecu issue. They always do. We may just have to give them time. I know alot of us want to mod the car the day we get it, but we may have to wait.
I see, you meant a standalone system. Oh yeah, im sure current ones wont just hook right up to an RX-8, but if youre telling me no-one will make one for it, thats crazy. I've never been much of a tuner in that sense, but I know for a fact that they'll make a standalone system that will work with RENESIS.
