the incident

well i was driving on the interstate as a semi passed me. I noticed something in the road and swerved to miss it. Then as the semi passed the large flat object start to slide so i continued over onto the shoulder further. All of the sudden the object went airborne flipping end over end and flying erratically from left to right. at one point it was on the passenger side almost flat and headed straight for my wife in the passenger seat. I started to go left back toward the center of the highway. the object reversed direction and slammed into my drivers side mirror sending the mirror and cover flying and slamming the mirror into my window.
it wasn't till i stopped and found the other damage. a few scratches cannot be seen in the photos.

this is what caused the damage. it's a heat shield off a semi i assume cause of the heavy gauge. and it has some blue paint on it from another car that hit it before i was able to retrieve it.

man it was on the ground already it was from a previous vehicle. the semi just caused the heatshield to lift from the wind.

man time slowed down and everything just went quite. I was so focused on that heatshield and the fact that i was inches from a guardrail on the left and had slowed down far enough to get behind the semi if need be.
