IAT sensor

First of all im a newby, so today i went to have someone look at my car because it doesnt some annoying noises, after we got done with that, he told me that i should get a resistor or recesstor, from radio shack for $2,get the one resistance at 68'C, and my check engine light will go off(i thought it was because the catback has more compacity), the car will run better and i can save more gas. im really confuse about this crap and i want to know if its worth the try.

Sry i didnt make it clear, its not the noise that i'm asking. the noise problem already solved, was cost by the heat shield and exhaust banging each other.
but the sensor, the two guys suggest me to put on a resistor, where my CIA connect with the car, i think one is called "MF" another is vacuum not sure, but the one has less core was not connected with the intake because i cant find anywhere to plug it in >.<. if i can remember right it was 3 wires tie together.

No it's not worth the try and do not seek any more advice from those people. If all it took was a cheap resistor to make the car run better and improve fuel economy way didn't Mazda put one on it?

ok sweet so i can just cut it off?

My friend read the code for the CE before he told me that "its cause by the catback i put on because it changed the capacity ," so in another word that everyone did upgrade midpipe or catback will have the CEL on?

if you put a midpipe on.. most likely you will have a CEL unless you mask it with a Cobb

Yeah, don't cut it..............just tie it back out of the way.
And..............as someone already said..............if you did put on a midpipe along with the exhaust, then you will get a CEL. Did you see when they installed the exhaust? How far up towards the engine did they replace? Oh.....and don't listen to whomever these two guys are, or you aren't hearing clearly at all.
