Unhappy i just wrecked my car

okay well i didn't wreck it, someone idiot drove into the side of my car... i have a question about fixing it. it's my whole driver's side and the back... b/c when he pulled up to stop behind me after hitting my side, he hit my tail end. so anyways i was wondering who to work with for fixing... a regular bodyshop, one specifically for mazdas? if there is anything special for fixing a mazda or anything that is good to know please tell me! i'm in shock and i'm so upset! please help!

Your insurance company (or thiers) should provide you with appropriate bodyshops to fix the damage. You shouldn't need to go to mazda.

Sorry :U

I would go to mazda and make them pay for it. BTW, make them pay the shop directly. It will save you TREMENDOUS hassle. Use the mazda dealor directly, one in the area will have a collision center that is part of the dealorship. Tell them to work through the claim with the insurance company.

You can easily claim that only mazda has the skill set to properly repair the 8 (even though no engine damage). I let autonation collision do the repair on my old 04 and they kept re-flooding it. It took them 3 months to do 3 weeks of work.

Sorry to here you had an accident. Glad you are OK. I strongly suggest you take it to the best shop in town and insist that the insurance company pay for quality work. Don't settle for anything less then perfect. Start by going to your Mazda dealer (as vortarian said) and let them fix it or let them suggest the body shop they use as not all dealers have their own body shop.

Good luck, and I hope you have your baby back soon.

Oh, and welcome to the board. I just realized you are new here. This is a great place to get support.

Yeah thanks for the advice... i would have some pictures b/c they show everything really good-even the color of his car. but you know when it rains it pours kinda thing, i was dog sitting and locked myself out of the house... so now i'm waiting for my dad to take me there and wait for a locksmith. Yeah it's going to be a great day dont ya think? ive never been in a wreck before so i have no idea what to do when it comes with the insurance or body shops...

take it to the Mazda dealer auto collision center... that way after your car is repaired, they can't blaim anything on the auto body shop that repaired your car

take your car to the best place there is, if you are not paying for the damge take it to mazda they will charge one eye and half the other that way the guy who hits you learns his lesson.

Also keep in mind that the Rx8 has a specially constructed roof so it can absorb a side colission with the freestyle door design. You'll be beter off taking it to the dealer than to any other place especially since your doors were damaged and some of the impact was likely transfereed to the roof. Many bodyshops would have no idea on those little details

Sorry for your misfortune. Glad you are not hurt and sheet metal can be fixed.

Another vote for taking your car to a MAZDA collision center. They will use OEM parts AND make them check for hidden damage. I suggest you become real friendly with the shop manager. Try not to be a hole but let 'em know that you want the job done right and will settle for nothing less. The price will go up but that's the insurance companies problem.

Also, have patience. When your car is wrecked the first thing you want is to have it back, soon. Good repair takes time so dont rush it just to get your car back. If you rush it, you'll likely settle for a second rate repair.

Good luck to you.
