I just found this board

I just found this board (my rx-8)
Nice place, wish I found it earlier.
I was 2.5 years into my 4 year lease on a 2004 GT black on black leather.
here it is now
Currently fighting the insurance company on being totaled.
It's over 70% of the value damaged (engine is cracked) yet they dont want to total it for some reason.
Don't get in a wreck with these cars, man it hurts like hell.
This wreck happened at 60mph and I almost broke my neck due to the low ceiling.
Also, no airbags deployed.

60 mph wreck like that and no airbags??? Somethings wrong with that. BTW, the 8 has rated VERY high in all crash tests I've seen. Sorry to hear that.

apparently the sensors are low and this crash was just above the sensor area
it can be rated 5 star whatever, but with a low ceiling, wait and see what happens to your neck

we are sitting at 12k in body damages and interior damage
this does not include the motor damages
A truck lost control on the hwy and swung across me and I nailed him
here is the truck

Day'eem. Is that the headlight above the tire?! Sorry to hear that, man. How tall are you? I ask because of your comment on the ceiling...what happened with the ceiling and your neck, anyways?

Im 6ft even
in a flash of a second my neck was twisted sideways because my head jammed against the ceiling at impact.
I thought for sure I broke my neck.
You know sometimes you turn your neck and you get a catch of pain, like a nerve burn?
It's like that but times 100.
I alsi chopped my ear up on the plastic interior lights

it looks like you got jammed under that truck
the motion of the car going under the truck probably launched you from the seat into the roof, thus the jamming of neck
sorry to hear about you injuries, this is probably something pretty rare to occur in a car crash, car going under another and the passenger gets tossed UP into the roof

not sure if I will get another or not, still on the fence
Im afraid of another wreck to be honest.
I mean I have had wrecks before, but being so low to the ground and the car so small, it's like being in a tin can.

Yeah I felt safe in it before the wreck.
And I guess it is safe, I mean I could be dead or have a broke neck.
The worst injuries I had though were to my knees and foot.
Im probably going to limp for here on out.

Burner71 - very sorry to hear about this. Having weathered so many crashes I don't wish them on good people. I do have suggestions -
1) Get recommendations for a good chiropracter. How do you find a good chiropracter? Ask around - people who see theirs every week or two forever have a bad one - people who saw theirs once or twice and were fixed saw a good one.
2) Find a nice massuse. It might be covered by your health insurance if your doctor or chiropracter gives you a medical recommendation. If they won't do so after a major car crash they're not a good doctor/chiropracter.
3) Hot bath or hot tub to relax the muscles.
4) That whole 'tin car' feeling and extra nervousness you didn't have before the crash should fade in a week or two. Be cool and seek out some extra treats for yourself.
I was *soooo* bummed when I smashed my RX-8. Took 6-weeks get it fixed and that meant driving all of my out-of-town guests around in a rental car over Christmas last year. Feel for ya man, been there, done that, and my headlights still aren't alligned perfectly right.
