MyMazda website mentioned the recall coming up on March 5, I guess that means tomorrow.

Passenger side airbag harness may malfunction in several Mazda models, and a shield of some kind on the RX-8 6MT may fall off. Do a search and you'll find more info.

Haven't gotten the letter yet. I'm in no hurry to take it in, either; I figure I'll let the geniuses make all their mistakes on other peoples' 8s before they get to work on mine.

I guess I'd be a one of those - I had a 15000 mile check booked for last Saturday and told the service guy about the recalls - he knew about it and offered to do both 'fixes' there and then. I was there for about 2 hours total - they had to let the exhaust system cool down awhile before replacing the piece there.

Kain, I felt that way too. Then I remembered that I have life insurance on my wife. We're all set!

Called my dealer today. He said he couldn't do anything until it was "released" by Mazda. He checked the computer while I was on the phone and found that it was. So we setup the appt.

We bought our 8s on Feb 26th. I called today and asked about the 3 recalls that I read on here (Reflash, passenger airbag, and heat shield). Our guy at the dealership was only aware of the damper and they hurried to get that done before we came back to pick up the cars. So, I don't know the timeline on the recalls well, and am afraid to press the issue that there still may be some unresolved recalls!

I called my dealer service dept. here in Dallas yesterday to set up an appointment for the recall service. The service rep told me that no letters had gone out to the public and that they had no parts and wouldn't have any until the letters had been sent. I called a different dealer and was told that their service dept had been doing the recall service for some time and would be happy to set up an appointment as they were full up yesterday. After I waited unsuccessfully for my blood pressure to go down, I called my sales rep at the original dealer to let him know that I was unpleased with his service dept. If truth be told, I was a little hot about it. He said he would find out what was up and would get back to me. Within 5 minutes the Service Dept manager called me to apologize that there must have been some misunderstanding on the part of the service rep I spoke with and that yes, indeed, they had the parts and would be happy to schedule my work.

I haven't decided yet which dealer to take it to but I must admit to being quite upset at getting jerked around by the dealership where I bought the car.

No letter yet. I will give it bit more time, then call the dealer, and make arrangements. I was thinking I would let them practice on other cars first. I also have snows and may do the swap at the same time.

The dealer I bought from was Hancock in Mesquite and the one that was already doing the recall work was Prestige in DeSoto.

I had my car in just yesterday and they performed both of the recall repairs for me and they flashed my ECU, to the wrong version, but hey, they flashed it.

I had called them a few weeks ago and asked if they had parts in for the recall. They hadn't heard about it but did some checking with MANO and got the parts shipped in.

How do you know they flashed the wrong ECU update and where do you get the correct update info from?

I have not received the recall letter, but I did receive notice when I logged onto mazdausa.com. The dealer was well prepared when I called and did the recall work on the airbag very promptly. I stopped in at 7:30AM and was back at work by 8:15.
