I Hate You All!!!

Damn you bastards and your wicked ways! Thanks to reading all the posts about this car, I decided to go test drive one this past Sunday. After not being able to sleep the last few nights, I went back today and ordered the Titanium 6sp. with GT package. I blame the peole on this board. Now I have to worry about a car payment, insurance, and other stupid things like all the stares I'll get, new friends, ricers wanting to race me, and all the girls that will be on my nuts. Why oh why did I ever come to this board! Guess I'll just have to learn to deal with it after I pick it up later this week. Thanks a lot. :D

Yeah, the RX-8 is like crack. They get you to try it out, then you're unable to resist buying it.

a girl in my complex has a ti 8 that i have to drive by every day to get out. after i started looking into a new car seeing hers taunt me everyday as i drove by was the deciding factor that made me buy my 8 now instead of waiting a year when my insurance would be a lot better, i would have some more money in the bank and mazda would work out a lot of the first year glitches. that bitch!

Yeah, I didn't buy this car for the great gas mileage. Especially since the gas here in the east bay is over $2.50/gal now. I didn't buy it for how fast it is. If I wanted something super fast I would have purchased an Evo or Sti. I got this car because it is super practical, and it is a true sport car. I had been looking for a long time for a car that fits me. Coming from a family car (Chevy Malibu), I needed something with some space, but because I'm only 22, I needed something that is sporty, and eye catching. And after watching Initial D religiously, I LOVE high revving engines. I know about all the problems with this car/rotories, and I frankly don't care. Its a great car, and no car is without its problems, especially the first year. The majority of the people on this board have had no major problems, and as long as I treat her right, I don't plan on having any problems either. Thanks for the welcome, and hope to see some of you during meets.

The only problem I have had since owning the 8 is not being able to accept the fact that the car will not look new forever. Some road rash on front and sides, and a few marks in the interior and exterior, and some superficial scratches here and there, and I notice every single one of them and dwell on it. It's one of the reasons this is my first new car. Never had to worry when you had a beater as your daily driver. I finally took the plunge and treated myself, but I swear I spend just as much time worrying and obsessing over the car as I do driving and enjoying it. In the end, I am happy with my purchase, and you will be too. Best of luck to ya.

Owning an RX-8 has ruined my life. I lay awake at night worrying about how I'm going to keep it looking and running like new for the next 20 years.

Welcome. Don't worry about insurance, it's a "compact 4-door" (at least according to State Farm) :D
