You can easily do a burnout in an Rx-8, the OP (3 years ago) forgot to turn off traction control, it's in an annotation in the video.

Yeah.
Also note the RX8 is my daily driver.
It's easier to abuse a car when you don't need it to get to work.
I was trying to do a burnout without being too hard on the car...and I obviously failed miserably.

The new set I put on after those burn out attempts... already shot.
(when I pulled them off to put the new wheels and tires on late last year- yes, had previous alignment issue where I barely tapped a curb sliding sideways stopped in an ice storm)

I did upgrade after that.

And the staggered sticky BFGoodrich tires would be even harder to do a burn out with.

Why on earth do you wait and let your tires get down nothing before replacing them?

I did not realize they were anywhere near that bad until just before I ordered those wheels/tires.
Those Sumitomo tires do amazing well even when close to slicks. (shrug)

For a burn out with an 8 , you would need a puddle of grease given the 8's non extent torq from a stand still lol lol.,

Do you have an 8 and know how to do a burnout? Cause i have brand new pirelli centuratos and mines 100% stock. I can still do a decent burnout fairly easily

I have driven my 2004 rx8 automatic for 100,000 plus miles , and the puddle of grease remark was about the automatic trans 8 , even a dumb *** knows after driving the automatic 8 , that from a stand still it has very little if any torq for a burn out. I am also US Navy river rat retired, honorably discharged, decorated, disabled. I didn't blow **** up i just killed people on the rivers of cambodia and laos. You shouldn't give bad advice but instead keep your opinions of others to your self. You are stereo typical of a cyber bully trying to garner political currency in the form of mis placed admoration . You probably weren't in the military , bullys usually get their *** kicked at least in the Navy lol

Oh yea by the way , since you shot your big mouth off please enlighten us all with your proof that a 2004 automatic can do a burn out from a stand still with out the puddle of grease, i'm in great suspense ! lol lol lol.

Yes i do! and i was refering to an automatic trans. If your going to try and tell me that you can do a decent burn out wwith an automatic , please by all means show me the proof other wise you are mistaken and probably assuming i ment a manual trans. Even with a manual trans with the lack of real low end torq if you do it with the manual trans and yes it can be done, but you will soon need a cluitch plate. With an automatic 2004 series one 8 i still say you will need a puddle of grease and oh yes i was reffering to bone stock 2004 automatic trans 8.. I am a retired US Navy river rat cambodia , laos gun runner river rat, we were affectionalty called the boat people in Viet Nam war.

I don't get it. You can do a burnout in an automatic car! Just hold the brake pedal with your left foot and floor the accelerator pedal. The rear wheels will spin in one place. It's not gonna create a lot of smoke, but they will spin in one place.

You must be practical here my friend. An automatic can't do a burn out with out the routine you quoted here , which would soon trash the automatic trans operation and besides given the low torq of the automatic 8 , one has to ask what is the point. If you can do a thing doesn't mean you should do a thing. Your automatic trans would not last long. To say yes i can do a burn out with my automatic trans and ruin the trans for that purpose means to me you have more money than brains lol.
