but, sorry to say, it wasnt the RX-8. i finally decided to go ahead with the Nissan 350Z instead. i really do love the looks of the RX-8, but that rotary engine was really what ultimately scared me away.

why would a rotary engine scare you? you know they're the most reliable engines on the planet right....

wouldn't you just love to switch gears in a piston at redline, having the tensioner float for a split second due to the timing belt slaping against it, then all of a sudden your cam gears slip a tooth or two causing your pistons to slam into the valves.

There are too many failure points on a piston engine in my eyes.

You can't really go wrong with either car, they're both really great cars.
I'm glad that you bought a 350Z and posted on this board because there are so many idiots here who thinks that the RX-8 is the ultimate ride created by God himself.

I bought the RX8 because of the rotary engine. Have fun with the Z and ride with the herd. It's safer that way.

I have driven a Z many miles on very different types of roads. The Z seems to be favored by most people probably because of its detached feel. It makes you think you are going faster than you are, giving you the rush you want in a sports car. Don't get me wrong . . .great car, decent mileage, fun to drive . . . but

Problem is everybody has one. So on every street corner, at every signal, and all over the freeway you see tons of them.

I prefer a more unique car that has a much better feel. A car that was designed from the ground up to be a sports car centered around a very cool little engine. Not a sedan chassis with a truck motor
