how many times has your rx8' performance saved your life?

this oocured to me today when i avoided a huge accident---

HOW MANY TIMES HAS YOUR RX8'S PERFORMANCE ABILITIES SAVED YOU FROM AN ACCIDENT, MAY IT BE LIFE OR DEATH OR EVEN SOMETHING SMALL...

i think we can all agree we appreciate how many times this car has saved our lives...

all this comes from my near crash experience today, i was driving 65mph on a long turning lane, while 3 lanes next to me were completely stopped, so what do you know a guy pulls out of his lane like 10 feet ahead of me and expects me to stop in time. somehow the beautiful abs stopped my car centemeters from his rear bumper.. heart beating , i kissed my stearing wheel and thanked god for my rx8.

I've avoided a few fender benders.. but that's as far as my stories go. I've never had to come to an emergency stop on the highway.

I've had quite a few times already where I had to punch the gas or get rammed by some SUV on the highway, had it been my old automatic, it would have wasted precious milliseconds rev'ing up before engaging a gear and would have ended in being rear-ended, or hit on the side, on the highway by an SUV/pickup 4x the size and weight of mine.

Thankfully the 8 responds immediately when I slam that pedal down.

Also had a scare where a barrel dropped off a truck on highway and I swerved to the left (I was on left-most lane) immediately at 70mph and then swerved back, all without losing traction.

Last Saturday actually, I went to Miami, and had to do an emergency stop coming off the highway (it merges directly onto US1 and is limited at 45mph) at 50mph because some SUV was stopped with a flat tire.. no warning lights/brake lights to warn about the fact he was stopped in the middle lane of US1. (It was nighttime as well). Guy behind me had to swerve hard to the left

I'm quite glad I got this car.

I drive like a grandpa . . . . . That helps me avoid accidents.

But I have had a couple thankful moments when it came to the braking ability

i was able to take this corner at 50mph one time...if it had not been an rx8, i would have probably understeered right into the ditch. I knew i was able to take the corner at my speed though

This really has nottin to do with a fender bender, couple nights ago, some guy or girl was following me in a mercedes suv, so i lead him or her to my neighborhood, it was dark that night so i turned off all my lights headlights, taillights everything! and i was like in stealth mode and BAM! hit all my lights and just floored it, drifting a turn cornering hard hitting at 60mph in a neighborhood passing sub divisions and i lost him or her and i went back home, and went on stake out so he or she wouldnt mess with my 8 haha lol

Drifting at 60 in a residential area with lights off?

That's at least HALF-tard.

A few months after I purchased my 2005 I was cornered on the left side of a highway when traffic was stacked to my right and the truck in front of me locked their brakes and began to slide...

The truck grabbed traction and slammed into the retaining wall such that the drivers side door was facing the front of my car...the truck being sideways took up any escape route.

I was able to stop quickly from approx 65mph...so quick that a sedan and a larger SUV behind me had to swerve to the sides of my car to avoid rear ending my RX8. Had they not, I'd have been a Mazda sandwich.

I've had situations where I've had to swerve to miss cars, as well as objects in the road like industrial equipment, construction signs, ladders, beds, as well as various landscaping stuff. Arizona doesn't have any load control laws.

I'd say for sure without my RX8 I'd probably not be here right now.

Please take your recklessness to the track before it DOES have something to do with a fender bender or worse. Driving with no lights on, speeding through a neighborhood (most are 35mph?) and "drifting" sounds like a good receipe for a serious wreck.

I wouldn't say my car really saved my life. because if I did not drive, those "possible" accident wouldn't even happen. correct ?

I was in afternoon rush hour traffic heading south on the south florida turnpike extension approaching the toll plaza when a guy on my right on a cell phone just started moving into my lane. The idiot did not even look or stop when I blew my horn. I was able to divert quickly to the emergency lane and avoid getting hit. The RX-8's suspension allows manuevers like this with no loss of control.

My 8 saves my life every day.

I swear I'd die if I couldn't drive it.

Ive had a few close calls where the brakes or handling helped out on the highway.

It hasn't directly saved my life, but as someone who believes in offensive driving (better than reactionary defensive driving) it consistently gets me out of potentially hazardous situations with its ease of maneuverability and ample acceleration.

Ya I did the same time the same day as I got my car. Did 90 mph in a curve while having to stick to my lane because a huge truck came in the opposite lane. Was completely under control though because of imba rx-8 handling

Usually having to do with some idiot around here *redundant much?* running a stop sign, causing me to swerve to avoid T-Boning them.

1: So you led them to your neighborhood instead of somewhere else
2: You then turned off all your lights while still being tailed, so the Mercedes' lights still lit up your rear
3: you turned on all the lights to make it easier for them to see when you made the turn, and see you much further down the road
4: you disabled DSC to allow you to actually drift, ahead of actually drifting
5: you then took a corner that was unbelievably smooth enough and wide enough to allow a drift in a neighborhood (lets face it, how many corners in neighborhoods are actually THAT well maintained and also that wide including parked cars)
6: you then hit 60mph (i am assuming that is not an exaggeration since 2nd gear beep is a clear 60mph note to remember) in less than a block (if you were flooring it in 2nd, it would have been quick), so you were ~ 150 feet? ahead of the Mercedes
7: and since you already lost them, I guess they kept going straight to their actual destination while you recklessly sped down a residential street through subdivisions risking the life and property of not only yourself but any potential bystander, property owners, and the city/state government

[sarcasm] Nice Job. [/sarcasm]

Just the other day, I was driving on hwy 99 and as I passed by the car toys/costco road, they had a red light, I had green. This old man I saw drive right up to the light, slow down, and just go. HE HAD A RED LIGHT! Almost t-boned me as I was doing about 35. I see him coming, check my blind spot, then swerve to the left and accelerate quickly to get back in my lane(was in 3rd because the speed increases to 50 shortly after). Right after that, he takes to the middle lane, causing an expedition do drive up on those center median curb things(about 3-4" tall). He didnt check, he just went. He then got up beside me, as I drove slow. He wouldnt look at me, then I proceeded to tell him that he almost hit me, drove another car to the center lane, and needs to get off the road.

I had also had to avoid a deer at about 60mph, no problem, and a wreck infront of me, showed me how amazing the 8 brakes really are.
