OK so I saw this 8 on Ebay......I was checking to see what they sell for these days anyway I saw this sick Turbo 8 would any of you know the story behind this car? I contacted the seller but all I got was this car has this and that and it cost this or that much. I want to know if the car is solid and what kind of real world numbers it was doing. The thing only had 19k on the clock soooo???

They went big in some places and went cheap in other areas. There is a lot of custom work there I'm not sure based on the pics how they are running it since the RX-8 uses MAF based tuning an obviously the MAF is gone on that car. But there is some nice custom work there and a very expensive turbo. It has a custom throttle body so there is likely a stand alone computer. The body work looks sick, that wide body kit is expensive as hell. But a lot of cars can look clean in pics but be horrible in person. This car could be great or it could be a nightmare of a money pit.


Oh , and the entire under tray is gone.

But honestly who puts all this in a car only for it to sell for 12-20k with only 19k on the clock?? If my car had this it'd be on the track. I would love to know what this guy did right, it might be an interesting avenue to take with our cars. I believe he mentioned that the Turbo kit alone was about 6k, we've seen more expensive kits on here...although he may have just meant the turbo was 6k hahaha then yeah that's pretty pricey.

Maybe he expects it to sell for a ton of money with a bidder war, but he will probably be disappointed.

Looking at the carfax that car had 18k miles in 2008, and now has 19k in 2012, so its been sitting a long time. Who knows why it went from California to Pennsylvania in that time, seems like a large distance for it to travel to sell it. The last time it was even registered was in 2010.

Hard to say but maybe all that work got done in Pa recently, and it has not been sitting with all these parts on it.

Damn I didn't even think to check the carfax ...well thats pretty weak!
It'd be nice to see something like this on at least a weekly driver. Owner is claiming 450hp, no TQ numbers no dyno sheet no dirt on the turbo lol starting to sound like a trailered car. Oh well I guess that's that.

Are there any vids of this car running/starting up/driving, Does it even work? You would imagine they would have made some magazine covers etc. it's not everyday you see a highly modded rx8

There is a lot more than 6k in installing that turbo kit, that is for sure. But it has a Haltech ECU so it has potential if the stock ECU was retained to run everything else. But it was likely a tuning nightmare and probably doesn't run well. But for 12k it would be a nice starting point for a street/show car. If the bodywork is not horrible and the car is clean otherwise.

Heres a little catch up for anyone that does not want to read that long FS thread.

This car has a crazy story... Swift was selling for a long time, then shipped it to the east coast(Florida I think?) to sell to some guy named 904tuner. then 7 months later swift comes back posting saying he has the car and the sale did not happen. The 904tuner guy said the car ran like ****, he paid $2500 to get the engine fixed and he said it did not get fixed. Then OneEvilRx8 said it was going to be delivered to his house in New Jersey in a few days(years ago) and never posted again on there. People said the car was at JPR imports in New Jersey at that point.

Then the thread went to **** with spamming, and here were are today. I would not even go near that car unless it was dirt cheap. Not that I have the money to buy it, but it just sounds like a huge mess.

Yeah I bet it is a huge mess, but it has 30k in it at least and the engine/turbo issues could be resolved if someone got it properly sorted by proper tuner/builder. If the engine was okay, I would dump the Haltech, replace the main wiring harness, switch it back to TBW, and switch it to a MAF based setup again and tune that bitch with a COBB AP.

Yea I mean if somebody really wanted to and knew what they were doing, it would probably be easy enough. It has just been through so many hands, you would think someone would have done that by now.

Wow haha I gave up all hope of finding any info on this car and look... a Vid (thanks xexok), a couple threads (thanks pdxhak) and some proof that little 8 ran. I love this forum!!!!
Yeah honestly I like this car but the interior is garbage IMO (not a fan of speakers for seats) seems it would have made a nice track car. I wonder if the turbo setup was based off of a RX7 setup, which would possibly shed some light on the poor tune-ability that you guys have mentioned (not that I know much of turbo-ing a rotary but many have mentioned there are major differences between the 8 and the 7).

A lot of RX-7 builders do not know much about the Renesis because it was not well received by most of them so when they try and tackle boosting one they fawk it all up. I'm not sure if that is what happened here but to me it looks like someone was throwing money at a shop that just didn't know how to boost an 8 properly. I mean you could make it work that way with the Haltech but you need a good tuner. Also, the Upper intake manifold is all custom, not sure what they did with the LIM and the APV, SSV, etc. On would really need to see the car in person to see what is really up with it.

This car was built before the Cobb AP was available for the RX8 and there was not much for tuning options. Obviously a lot of work has been put into the build and for the right price it could be worth picking up. Other than the wheels and the rear fenders, I think it looks great.

Hello everyone, I can't belive this forum is FULL of gosip womans, first off, this is my car and that's that...., I was trying to sell it because in 5 years I only drove it 150 miles, then went to JPR to tune in, never blow the engine or anything major, MONEY I HAVE...., my car it's nor for sale or would ever be.., when i'm done with it, I will part it out and noe one will get to play with it...!!!!!!!, from here and forward you will not see or heard anything about my car.....
you might just see me driving up and down route 17 in bergen county...
