So i just bought my 04 rx8 about a month ago. anyway i was sitting at a redlight for about 20 seconds when all of a sudden BOOM! Some lady traveling at the speed of the road (40mph) driving a chrysler 300 slams into me. When she hit me I was plowed into the car in front of me and my head whiplashed back into the nice plastic rotary accent in the driver's seat... lol rotary accent gave me a headache. anyway, after i realized what happened, ol girl went ahead and floored it to hit me a second time, just for good measure i guess. I got out, knocked on her window, she wouldn't make eye contact, i yelled "ARE YOU OKAY?" and she backed up and drove away.

wtf.

There were witnesses and the cops came. but she was long gone. One witness came back and said they followed her to where she was going and she got out and told them that "someone hit her".................................. then the cops called me back later at home and said they found her and she claimed she had a seizure..................... if she has this such seizure condition she wouldn't be allowed on the road.

The guy in front simply got out looked at me and said "Man i gotta go to work" and drove away..... lol i was so confused.

But both the front and rear bumpers are fucked. I don't know what else happened. But i'm headed to the ER now because the neck and head pain are worsening.

Oh and P.S. Her front license plate said "Love Jesus" ........... Why dear lord baby jesus why?????

wow that is a crazy one...yeah with problems with seizures she should not b allowed on the road.....hopefully her insurance is paying for everything....hope you and everyone else is ok and ur 8 makes it out ok also.....

Hope you're okay. What a story! The things people do. Both left the scene. The guy in front of you must not be legal/no insurance/no license or something. The lady who started all this must of been drunk. How is she going to hit you twice and still leave??? Looks like some major mods coming your way. Good luck.

haha yeah, never been hit like this. so i don't know where to start. i guess sue her ***. still, i'm super ignorant in this situation. all i know is that i'm raging pissed because i'm in love with my 8, just washed, clay barred, and waxed 3 days ago.... of course.. of course.

i agree that some bitches shouldn't be allowed on the road. She is DEFINITELY one of them. however, I'm one of the bitches that should be allowed on the road just representin for the chicks with 8's here. alright gotta go, my ride to the ER is here.

Get a lawyer. If you don't know one, call the local bar association and ask for a few names of lawyers who handle this kind of thing. Those guys know where to start.

Went to the ER right after my last post at the hospital that I work at just so it's on the record in case I end up catatonic in a few days or something. Just checked me out and gave me some meds which is fine.

I'll post some pics tomorrow, couldn't get very good ones at night. It could've been way worse. Ol' girl was leakin coolant all over the place and left some of her headlight at the scene. I'm still convinced that the 8 is a relatively safe car (except for the rotary accents when they hit you in the head!!)

She may very well have had a seizure. I have had them but it's been years now since I've started taking medication. Even a little one, a minor black out on her part would have created that. You have her information, so your ok. Just make sure you do not sign off on this claim until you know you personally are going to be ok, with no residual effects. Best to call a specialist Attorney I agree.

At the rate of speed she hit you her foot was on the gas pedal, the impact pushed you out of the way but she still had that foot on the pedal, and connected again. It is very plausible, but she shouldn't have left the scene. Howver, considering the ease of finding her, she probably doesn't remember anything, and a natural reaction from a woman would be to drive off, when a strange man knocks on her window in the middle of traffic.

Grand Mal seizures rarely last longer than 1-2 minutes so I would imagine she was totally oblivious, and will have no memory of the incident. It will take someone delving into her medical records to prove this is true, if her insurance company doesn't have this information. Mine does. You may have a long road ahead of you. Your insurance company will have litigators to deal with this if her company refuses to pay and they will get to the bottom of it. Just hang in there, and get a rental that you will enjoy driving. You drive a sports car. When I had my accident, it was not my fault, and I ended up with an HHR... Pretty cool little truck. Not my 8, but for a 4 banger it would get up and go, and handled the twisties around here pretty good too!

I bet her air bag must have deployed right? Who the hell would have the reaction to drive off after you blacked out, even if a stranger is knocking on your window, when your air bag is out? Even if it wasn't out, I'm sure she could have clearly gathered that she just plowed into someone being that she had to back up before driving off and leaving the poor guy standing there. No no, I do not buy the whole oblivious and innocent pitch. She made the choice to back up and flee the scene.

I agree that it is very possible that she had a seizure or blacked out, but all of the things she did after were very questionable. Her first instinct was to flee the scene, and then lie to witnesses that asked her what happened in the grocery store parking lot she went to... The witnesses say she went in and out of the grocery store, left, and then proceeded to drive right by the scene of the accident where i was standing there stranded. and she just kept on going.

also the second time she hit me was 10-15 seconds after the initial hit. Which I would understand if it was instantly after the first hit because the reconnection theory would be the answer. lol i'd love to give her the benefit of the doubt but she did so much crazy stuff afterwards.

Either way, i'm just shocked that my 8 is banged up and at the exceedingly weird things people do when they see they've done something.

Sorry guys, i'm over analyzing and obsessing, especially because i can't sleep at all right now.

Now, for a quote, should I take my car to a mazda dealership or a bodyshop that i know or does it matter?
How important is it to get a lawyer in this situation? Or should i let the insurance companies hash it out? I'm just a gal in nursing school working as a nursing assistant so I don't have a whole lotta dough.

For quotes, I usually ask around to find out the best shop. Though, since you don't have a whole lot of time, I'd say just take it to the dealership and work it out with them. If the place does a crappy job, make them fix it until it's right.
