HELP. very Newbie about RX-8
I'm thinking of getting an Rx-8 but I have like NO IDEA about the car. I looked up stuff on Yahoo and searched the web and stuff but yeah, that's mainly why I'm on this forum. this is my situation.
I'm deciding between the 350z and the Rx-8. yeah yeah i know ..but i hope this thread doesn't become an arguement over which car is better. :p I need to choose between a 2 seater or a 4 seater. If im going to get the 4 seater then i'll get the Rx-8.
Well im going to get a car in a few months and I know practically all there is to know for the 350z. more than some owners. haha like for the 350z, i know the pricing, and since i've been on like 4 forums for 3-4 months, I know how much i can get the car for, what problems it has, such as tire feathering, and how fast it goes, etc.. but the Rx-8 i really have no clue about anything.
So these are some of the things i would like to know. and I hope you guys can tell me other things that I don't know about right now.
1) How much can i get the Rx-8 for if i deal okay? I know the 350z i can get 1000 under MSRP.
2) ANY PROBLEMS? I heard that rotary engines have serious problems but i don't know if thats true. Some ppl said that people with Rx-8 are getting new engines and stuff because of that.
3) What's the deal with the other mechanical stuff? I know about cars and all that, like the mechanics, but for the Rx-8 i never really had the time to research if everything's the same. Also because you never really hear about the Rx-8 and there's no real advertisement for parts like on Import Tuner or Super Street or something. Are there different SPECIAL types of intakes, headers, and engine stuff? Is there any type of -chargers or forced inductions? Fill me in here please :P
4) When you buy the Rx-8, are all of them the same? Cause i went on couple of the sites, and there only seems to be two trims, the AT and the MT. for the 350z there's BASE, ENTHUSIAST, PERFORMANCE, etc. and all with different type of wheels, or Traction Control, VDC, leather, etc. What about the Rx-8? For the leather heated seats, or the spoilers and stuff, are they all just options? Even the sunroof? (btw, how much for the sunroof)

We sound like a broken record but...........EVERYTHING you mentioned and asked is already being talked about in a thread or has been.
Seriously, sit down and plan on spending a whole afternoon going thru this stuff. You'll find good stuff and bad stuff, like on any car forum.
And to answer your question, yes the RX-8 is the best. What else would we say on the RX-8 group?

1. go to this part of the foums and read thru some of the threads. many people have managed to get deals like you are talking about.
2. there have been some engines fail. remember that this is a brand new engine in a brand new car in it's first year of production. so there are/were some production glitches. however there are thousands of us who have not had any problems whatsoever.
3.first you need to know that this is a rotary so the mechanics are different. i suggest going to www.rotaryengineillustrated.com and read up. second if you want to know about the most currently available mods you should look here and here and read thru the threads. lots of good stuff there.
4.goto http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/disp...gModels.action and try a couple different build variations. you will see how the different packages are, how much etc.
5. i would not trade my car for either of those mentioned. i would not trade it for cars twice it's price. if someone gave me a high priced exotic in trade for it, i would sell the exotic, buy 2 rx-8's and take a vacation.
6.the stereo in the touring and grand touring packages is a bose . but it is much nicer than the one in the Z.
7. don't have any tire feathering. have not heard about that on this car.
8.if you think the handling of the z is top notch you will be blown away by the rx-8. z is quicker in the 1/4 mile. this is the smoothest, most amazing , funnest to drive, best handling car i have ever driven. and i have driven corvettes , mustangs ,grand nationals and others. it is just so well balanced it's hard to describe until you are driving one.
9. people love this car! go to a car show- see how many people just stand around gawking at it pushing their way in to get a seat. people always stop and complement you. there are plenty of threades on this board discussing this.
next time use the search button FIRST to find the answers on this forum. then if you really get stuck ask. hope you make the right decision and buy an rx-8

so a search on flooding and mpg. these seem to be the big complaints. have had now issues withe either. last tank of gas gave 21mpg with ac on.

better value for the money and more fun to drive. loaded??? look at the packages figure it out yourself.

interior not as tacky. bose has problems in both cars from what i have read.

nope. nore grease on windows. clicking in rear end.

did all this work 3 months ago. cars i looked at were the z rx8 and s 2000.
i made the right choice. for me.

Go get the March 2004 Motor Trend (with the new Cobra on the cover -- Yowch!) and thumb to page 92 for a contest between the Honda S2000, 350Z and the RX8. I'm proud to report an outright victory for the 8, and agree completely with the coverage.

thanks everyone. im didn't do a search on this forum because for me, it lags a lot. but i guess im going to end up doing it anyways. i'll check out the sites, and mazda.com and stuff like that. thanks

I did research for over a month on the RX-8 and decided it was the best car for me compared to the 350z. One of the biggest reasons I liked the RX-8 is because of the four seats.
I fell in love with the prototype after seeing it around 2 years ago, then I saw the 350z and started liking it more. Then when the RX-8 finally hit the streets, I knew that it would be my next car (and it was).
