HELP! with my RX8 please !

I recently purchased a 55 plate RX8 231 ps with 120,000 miles on, full service history etc. I dont know much about theses cars and always wanted a sports car. coming up nthe M6 last week I heard a noise and I had total loss of power, the car starts but no guts.
Took car into Mazda they stated cat had blown, and diagnosed a new cat 1500 pounds, new plugs and leads.
They also told me my pressure was low on the engine all coils are good but low pressure which has worried me !!
Is there an inexpensive solution to my problem or the low pressure means I need a new engine, new cat etc.
The car is just sitting there now on my drive, my 4000 pounds pride and joy has turned into a permant fixture on my drive.
Please any help or advise on what to do would be appreciated
Thank you

If the compression is down you need a new engine, period.
mazdarotaryparts.com sells a cheaper catalytic converter that's still within oem spec and is local to you.
Plugs, coils and leads are cheaper if bought in the states.

Your 4000 pound pride and joy will quickly become your 8k pround and joy
