Help deciding on buying an 8

Hello all from Canada

I've been lurking here for a while but now its time to step up to the plate and buy one. I was looking at one today and the dealer wanted $13500 for it. Here are the specs

2005 RX 8 GT in Pearl white
76k miles
fugly wheels I know
Traded in by an older gentlemen
Looks new outside and out as there was no signs of rust or paint chips
During the test drive it felt strong and pulled pretty good.
Doesnt look abused since it looks pristine
Dealer checked the vin and all the recalls and service flashes have been done

A few things that worry me are

- The mileage - Should I worry about rebuilding this soon?
- The wheels are 275/35/18 rear and 225/40/18 front. Sounds a little too big isnt it?
- Are there any major ($$$) service that need to be done soon from the maintainance schedule?
- Any other issues I should be looking for?
- Looks lowered or am I just used to the truck hehe

Thanks so much for any help provided and here are some pics for reference

if they told you it wsa traded by an older gentleman, don't believe them. Dont believe any of the crap they tell you about the previous owner, it is always made up

dealership I bought mine from tried to tell me it was some guy that worked for Mitsubishi and wanted a faster car so traded it for a EVO. Yea BS when all the paper worlk let in the glovebox has a womans name on it. Just kind of nod and ignore the stories.

13,500 is WAY to much for an o5 with 75k on it.

I got my 06 in June with 19k for 14,500....and it didn't have nasty *** wheels. You can find a better deal.

Don't settle unless it has all the stuff you want the way you want.

I have noticed that you guys in canada have way higher prices than we do so I wont comment on that. What i would do if you are really interested and take it to a mazda dealer before purchase and have them inspect it. Just did that on the 05 i bought yesterday and i found out more good news than anything. found out that there was a motor swap and the CAT recall had been done as well. I dont know much about the wheel/suspension intricacies, but if its lowered it can cause extra wear on the suspension and cause more problems later.

Price like i said is hard for the US guys to comment on because the markets are different, but unless everything checks out and it got a new engine like, 20k ago, than its probably not worth it.

Yeah I think Im going to pass. I looked at it again yesterday and I noticed that the wheels were installed incorrectly. The 285s were up front and the 225 were installed at the back. The unidirectionl tires were not pointing forward I'm looking at a 2005 with 45k for around $15900 later this week.

As far as the price difference goes we get screwed here in Canada.

Look around more, I found mine at a lotus dealership that had a back lot for cars that it wouldnt normally have to sell. I dont know how good of a deal I got but I bought my 09 with 18k miles for 17.5 + tax. I did see other dealerships selling 06 or 07 rx8s with 30-40k miles for 16 - 17.5 so I figure either they are huge rip offs or it was a decent deal. Just went to a currency converter and it says 17.5 usd is about 17.7 cad so not a huge difference. Maybe I just dont understand because I have never been to canada, but seems like its about the same price wise.

ditto what other peeps have said... u ought to be able to find a better value...

speaking of which... beauty isn't in the eye of the beholder. anyone who thought those wheels were good enough to install on an 8 needs to get their eyeballs and their brain checked, imo...

That would be miles. As far as pricing for 09 goes, that would be pushing close to $30000-$35000 here in Canada. I've been looking for about a month and I've never seen the 09s MT go for less than 30s even with the conversion. I have seen automatics go for around $28000
