hey guys im about to buy 19"x8.5 rims offset is 42. is the offset ok? if not, wat should be?

That should be fine. The 8 has a wide range for offset, but I don't remember it exactly. Up to 45, maybe? Check the wheels, etc. section - and prepare for the club favorite "search response".

Also - where are you buying? Most vendors should be able to answer this for you.

You can always call TireRack, or stop into your local wheel shop. They don't need to know you aren't buying there. Most of them have no shipping fees added, so it may be similar price and you get the added "warranty" deals.

I'm sure you can't fit 285's.

You may even have problem with 275's.
Should have posted in tire section and done some reading first.
