Heat from the Auto-console
For the folks with the auto:
Have you noticed how hot the center console is getting? You could boil water, and the heat at the feet by the gas pedal.
I'm placing a call today on it. Its been mid 80's-low 90's the past few days. I bought the car in Oct 03 so heat was never a problem.
I would just like to put a cold soda in the cup holder without it boiling.
If Mazda does't do anything I may buy insulation and install it around the tunnel. I had to do this on my 73 vette.

I am living in SINGAPORE and the temperature here is always in the 90s all year round. I drive an auto myself and have noticed the heat generated by the car. The console compartment is just HOT and e'thing in there is simply hot-to-touch. There were some discussion regarding this issue in some previous thread and I hope a solution can be found soon.

Automatic transmissions produce heat all on there own.
As everyone knows, Mazda tried to make this car as light as posible so there may be very little material between your leg and the transmission itself.
If it gets too unbearable, try a synthetic fluid in your transmission and add some insculation around that part of the cockpit.
