Okay... I was looking at the ceiling of mine this afternoon and noticed a few spots on the headliner about the size of a half dollar. They are somewhat faint brown if you will and there are about five of them in total. Now that I know they are there, it WILL annoy the hell out of me. Anyone else experiencing this? I am afraid cleaning will not work. I know it is not something I have done as I haven't even been in the back seat!

Take it back to your dealer and let them deal with it. I wouldn't want to try to clean the headliner either.... They should take care of it for you.

Oxyclean! try it in an out of normal sight area first to make sure it doesn't fade the material but i haven't seen it fade anything i've tried it on yet. also you could try woolite. but yes you should have the dealer look at it first.

I had 2 spots and used Folex spot remover very lightly scrubbing and they dissappeared. I know exactly what you mean about dirt crap in your baby!

be very careful cleaning your headliner. You're messing with some very thin material that is stretched over foam backing, which likes to deteriorate with just simple moisture. Cleaning solutions will be HELL on it. If part of the foam comes off, you'll be stuck with a sagging headliner, and the only real way to fix it is to go to an upholstery shop and have them replace the whole thing, wich can cost ALOT of money... It might just be easier, and MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper to deal with just having the spots.

Why would I settle for spots on my ceiling that came that way on the car. Either they can and will be cleaned or the headliner will be replaced by Mazda. I certainly have no plans to take my car to an upholstery shop.

Is it normal for the headliner to be covered under warranty? I guess its a good idea to go to the dealer and have them work on it, and have them take it somewhere to get fixed. I am just paranoid about headliners though, because of several friends and family members that have tried to clean theirs, only to end up having the whole thing ripped down and replaced, which can run up to 1000 bux depending on the car...

Hell yes the headliner should be covered under warranty. Bumper-to-bumper baby!!

If those spots were on there when you took delivery of the car and look to be some residual crap left over from the manufacturing process, then I would definitely take it back to the dealership and ask them to replace it for you with a clean one.

It is little things like this that we don't even think to look at when we go to take delivery, but will drive you nuts because it is just "not right".

Exactly 91vert.. I had to go by my dealership and sign a few papers today and I showed the sales manager the stains. He took a look at every small problem I found and said he would take care of everything.. no questions asked. They have been terribly nice and this is just what type of response I expected.
