Happy anniversary to my 8
Today is the 9th anniversary of picking up my '04 black 8. Can't believe it's been that long. I still enjoy driving it more each day. It is too bad Mazda gave up on the car, it is a wonderful car to drive and I've always have gotten 18 to 20 mpg in mainly city driving. I am keeping it as long as it runs (I also have a 23 year old RX7 'vert).

Congrats!
It's too bad that more like you – who make up the majority of RX-8 owners – don't show up here. (Then again, with nothing to complain of and not needing solutions to problems, why would you???)

But I'm thinking I'm not going to trade this one.

Congrats.
I've never kept a car that long. I get bored with them, I guess. I generally swap cars after a year or so. Every time I think about replacing my 8 (now at two plus years), I look at the car and think no. If I did it, I'd just end up hating myself the next day. I can't come up with anything I'd be willing to replace it with. It certainly isn't perfect, but it pushes more of the right buttons.

I am the same way but I stopped at the Eight. It is the car I had been looking for forever. If my current one dies a horrible death. I will either fix it or get another one.
Congrats.

Extraordinary Engineering
Mine is eight years old and I've had it since I took it in as an orphaned one year old.
