Listen to all the "old" people still telling us that we are going to loose our hearing. If I was going to loose mine it would be gone by now. And I agree I just might make half my car payment if I charged $2 for every time someone wanted to sit or take a short spin in my car.

Off the topic, but - hearing damage is cumulative, and you don't get it back. I wasn't much for listening to music really loud very often, but my wife used to go clubbing in Dublin a fair bit - she's a few years younger than me, but my hearing is definitely, noticeably, sharper than hers.

The damage will be there, even if you don't know it yet, and when you do know it, it's far too late to do anything about it (other than wear hearing aids - isn't that something nice to look forward to?)

Regards,
Gordon

You must have missed me as well Shooter - I've been driving my Winning Blue MT from Weddington to uptown every day for work - with as much zoom as either 485 or Providence allow. It's a challenge, sometimes - but I'm up to it!

Yeah I drive from Lake Wylie to Matthews on 485 every day. I needed a car like this to make the drive tolerable, but at least I am going against traffic and can really open it up.

Yeah what he said!

I was in the Army for 20 years and worked around turbine engines, turning rotors and weapons systems as an Attack helicopter weapons systems technician and electrician. The Army drills it into your head "there is no disability for hearing loss" Which means that if you get out and your hearing is worse than it was when you came in there is no way you can claim the loss and get disability. They check your hearing anually. In 20 years I only lost .02 pecent of my hearing.

Why?

I never listen to music in headphones. And rarely listen to loud music. Yes I will occasionaly listen to a favorite tune at 18-19 but that is a rare occurence.

And yes it is cumulitive. The loss is so gradual you will never know it is gone unless you get your hearing checked regularly so there is a baseline to go by. Enjoy it while you can. It will be sorely missed later on in life. Once destroyed it cannot be restored. It is gone for good.

Yeah seinfeld, i guess i missed you as well. i dont get down that side of town much. Since i live just outside of uptown i pretty stay in that general area.

Still surprised at how scarce the 8's are in charlotte. Although I'm kinda glad, I don't want to see em all over the road like the accords/altima's/etc. Then we wouldn't be noticed as much!! :D

I park in the BB&T building, and I take my time navigating in the parking garage - to give the people in the garage time to gawk.

I have only seen two other RX8's around in the last few weeks, both on the same day.

I hope they continue to remain scarce, but when spring arrives next month I bet there are lots of new sales. We'll have to set up a Charlotte meet someday then - we can all meet at Southend Brewery or something.

I guess I'll have to consider charging too. There's already a waiting list and I don't even have the car yet.

The Air Force was about the same Rotary Nut. Annual hearing tests were pretty much standard. Beep, click. Beep, click. I do miss the whirring of those GE turbines and the sound of those rotors though. I'm always looking to the sky when I hear the local ANG guys flying around in those plain old Blackhawks.

Hubby is retired Rotor Head AF Special Ops Pavelow's and Pavehawks, and I am prior AF too (and we can both still hear at the present time, ha ha). Although I started this thread about the looks and great sound quality, I am now going to start a new prior military thread. Seems we have a lot of military "rotor heads" around here.
