First time adding oil

Hey guys,

I've been checking the oil on my 8, and last night (while at the gas station) I noticed the oil level is a little on the low left side of the dip-stick.

This is my first time adding oil (sw30-I live in Maryland) how much oil do you normally add when the oil level is at that level? A quart of oil seems like a lot, so would half a quart be enough? When would you know I have put enough oil?

I hate to put too much.

Thanks guys,
Drumm !!

Add a little bit at once and check your oil level and add more as needed.

Pretty simple stuff.

Yes............never just blindly add oil unless you are very familiar with your car.
There are indicators on the dip stck and the manual will tell you what each mark is.

If you don't have a manual for your car, then please go download one for free at www.mazdausa.con (in the owners section). You will have to register, but NOBODY should ever buy a car without having the manual and at least read it once.

Add a little, check the level, add a little more, check the level, repeat until top(full mark) is reached................don't overfill. Then check your oil about every two fillups at the gas station.

This is the best bulletin I have found for reading the dipstick:

Yep.

Just wipe the dip stick clean with paper towel and stick it back in the hole.

Pull it back out to view oil level.

Well............you know how it goes. If you know your car and know what the marks are on the dipstick, then you don't have to do it five times to get it right.
